VIDEO NEWS: Atiku Abubakar on Fuel Subsidy: “I initially did not oppose the removal of the fuel subsidy. But now that it has been removed, where is the money? Where has the subsidy money gone? Has it been used to improve healthcare, education or security? If I win the presidential election, I will restore the subsidy. And anyone who stole Nigeria’s subsidy funds must return the money.”

There is nothing wrong with subsidy. It is the corruption associated with subsidy that is the problem. Removing subsidy for everyone is as bad as giving subsidy to everyone. — Bolaji Abdullahi, National Publicity Secretary, ADC, faults President Bola Tinubu's removal of subsidy. #PoliticsToday

When President Goodluck Jonathan announced the removal of fuel subsidy in 2012, Nigeria was almost thrown into anarchy. One of the leaders of that protest now sits in Aso Rock, his first act as President? "The Fuel subsidy is gone."

We say that this removal of subsidy, the manner the government has gone about it, is wrong. ADC will not do it the same way. We (ADC) will revisit the issue of subsidy. Our immediate concern is how do we ease the burden on the people. - Bolaji Abdullahi, ADC spokesperson, speaking on subsidy removal and alleviating the people's suffering. #PoliticsToday

Subsidy is NOT an option in Nigeria. There is absolutely NOTHING you can do to fight subsidy corruption.

Once again listen to what Mr Peter Obi said about subsidy removal "I will remove it but we have to offer them what is equivalent to what we're removing." Now I ask, before hastily announcing "subsidy is gone" what has Mr president select put in place to cushion its effect?

FRAME 1: "It is incumbent on us to have a pathway to removing Subsidy once and for all. Because what you spend on subsidy year-in-year-out is a waste. Any President that has the temerity and the strength to pull out subsidies will be respected as somebody that changed the course of history for Nigeria." — Rufai Oseni, October 2022 FRAME 2: The moment people supported subsidy is gone, you will never have it good as regards petrol prices, forget it. So whoever deceived you after the President announced subsidy gone, put you in the hands of international pressure, they deceived you." — Rufai Oseni, July 2026

"Mismanagement of subsidy proceeds is not enough reason to not remove subsidy" - Peter Obi I thought they said Peter Obi is a populist? So why is it Atiku parroting the "bring back subsidy" narrative?
