They threw all these established interesting plotlines from the previous season in the start and brushed it off in an such a rushed way only for the whole other part of the final season to be focused on the Vought Rising characters. Such a wasted, potential and lazy writing.

why did sage stop him? Is this not the perfect opportunity, let homelander start a war with the world and then the boys would kill him with the virus and that'd be it.
