Yesterday the Portfolio Committee on Police engaged SAPS and IPID on their 2026/27 Budget and Annual Performance Plans. Imagine if the City of Cape Town could work more directly on gang-related firearm investigations and even support ballistic testing. That would be a massive force multiplier for SAPS. We welcomed the way General Dimpane, the Acting National Commissioner, led the SAPS team with the Acting Minister in Parliament, as well as the improvement under Dr Bila at IPID. Tourism is also the biggest source of income for Jammu and Kashmir. They are dependent on that income. But due to this attack, Shri Omar Abdullah has told me that this year the economy has collapsed. The Government of India is ruling there, as it's a Union Territory, still not declared as a state. So the response would be from the Government of India.
