In a major strategic breakthrough, SAF regained control of Barah, Umm Garfa, Jabrah al-Sheikh, Ghabshan, and Umm Sayyalah. As Rerum Novarum anticipated, the Joint Forces of Darfur's offensive—which we had called a 'diversion'—appears to have helped draw RSF manpower and resources away from the siege of El-Obeid. Facing the disaster in the al-Genina direction, West Darfur, the RSF was forced to redeploy forces from the El-Obeid direction, creating an opening that the SAF exploited to not only lift the siege but also break the RSF lines in North Kordofan. The advance has reopened a vital supply corridor between Omdurman and El-Obeid, while also placing the RSF's key drone launch site (shown on the map in blue) at Umm Shalabiyeh under threat. This is the same drone base used routinely to attack Khartoum and Port Sudan. The Rapid Support Forces took heavy casualties, as well as substantial material losses.
