.@AaronBastani on @novaramedia tonight was spot on in explaining what the Tory strategy is.

We’ve had “20’s Plenty” signs here in Scotland for years. No eyebrows raised. No meltdown. The sky didn’t fall in. But never underestimate the power of right wing press & UKG to persuade folk to work against their best interests.

20mph limit is already common in many residential places in the UK with children. What's the issue? It's proven that a collision with a pedestrian at 20mph is less likely to be fatal than at even 30mph. Why does Sunak want more children to die in traffic accidents?

It's 20 mph in my street where there are families and parked cars but the main street at either end is 30mph. What is the big deal?

Comically/tragically awful

Today, I drove to the dump…as one does. In town, 20mph meant calmly flowing traffic, safe for pedestrians and cyclists, even that 😸 Joining the main road was infinitely easier and more fluid. Then I drove out of town at 40mph! Et voilà, no more blanket! And all in Wales 😎
