Locals in the predominantly Alawite village of Basnada in Latakia caught three Iran-affiliated individuals after they kidnapped a Syrian citizen from a predominantly Sunni village. The kidnappers were planning to kill the man inside the Alawite village to stir sectarian tensions among villages in the Syrian coast. One of the three refused to unlock his phone, while the other two claimed they didn’t have phones. Later, after confessing that they were saboteurs working to incite sectarian conflict, they were handed over to security forces. The kidnapped man was freed, and his phone, ID, and car were returned to him unharmed. This video was live-streamed on Ali Omran’s Facebook page.
