I’m sorry y’all, but as a real, true, authentic New Yorker… I just can’t get with this Mamdani grift. One year you’re naming Tom Thibodeau when asked to name a current Knick. The next year you’re giving a Knicks championship speech like you’ve been living and breathing Knicks basketball your entire life. And to be fair, it was a good speech. He’s a talented speaker. He’s a great orator. But that’s exactly why I’m skeptical. Because the most effective politicians know how to make themselves feel familiar. They learn what people care about. They learn the language. They learn the culture. And then they wrap themselves in it. Maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Zohran Mamdani has been the biggest Knicks fan in New York this entire time. But as a real, true, authentic New Yorker, something about this doesn’t feel organic to me. It feels manufactured. It feels calculated. It feels like branding. JMPD came straight to him and he was not the only person selling on the street, there where foreigners selling vegetables there and they use tables. Now the issue is that they left all those people and went straight to him using a trolley, took everything he had without issuing anything to him they just left like that.
