#DRC today received an initial delivery of 99 000 doses of the #mpox vaccine—donated by the European Commission. The country is witnessing a serious mpox outbreak with more than 20 000 suspected cases & over 630 deaths reported in 2024. The vaccines delivered today are the first ever to arrive in the country. A further 101 000 doses of the vaccine are expected to be delivered to the country this weekend. In addition to vaccination, WHO is supporting the country to strengthen all other aspects of outbreak response.
