Superman’s powers don’t make sense. Why does a yellow sun give him flight, heat vision, and super strength, but other Kryptonians don’t work exactly the same way?

Yes they do. It's all about length of yellow sun exposure and age. The longer they've been under a yellow sun the stronger they get and the more powers they tend to evolve. There are some genetic differences randomly but they all have the same baseset of abilities.

Our “yellow” sun isn’t really yellow. The comic book writers who made Superman’s powers based on sun color didn’t know science clearly.
