The founders never envisioned a deep state bureaucracy; one that ultimately would arise to sidestep gridlock and create mechanisms to ensure they could in fact remove a president that didn’t go along. And to hold the legislators by their throats to do their bidding. Except they did. They knew we could only be destroyed from within and said as much. They also knew that the other great threat to our system of government was a collapse of Christian based morals and ethics, which they noted. And both have happened. And they tried to kill Trump, just as they killed Kennedy, for trying to bring the Republic back to its founding principles as laid out in the Constitution.

I embrace the gridlock, for single issue bills. The system becomes completely corrupted with omnibus bills.

How many of our young have no idea about this? How many of our schools fail to teach it - on purpose? Justice Scalia was a brilliant jurist and his loss was a grave one to commons sense in our highest court.

This explanation would make Ketanji Brown Jackson's head explode.😉

I love the when Scalia say "minorities" that he does not mean "black" because it not what it means in a democracy.

So he probably would be against nuking the filibuster. At the same time, he was assuming that the representatives would be representing the ppl and not themselves.

What’s destroying the country today is a lack of accountability. Basic laws are broken with impunity - fraud, grift, illegal contributions, kickbacks, weaponization of the judiciary and last but not least a largely dishonest media. We must find our way back to punishing these crimes or we’ll never survive as a Republic.

True, all other alternatives are far worse than the endless "gridlock" we have

Poor Scalia didn't have the "chance" to see how terrifyingly easy this great structure was dismantled like a house of cards. All these rules matter only if they are respected. Democracy is not held up by rules after all, but by the people. If they fail or don't want it anymore...

He was the smartest and best justice ever, a true giant of the law!

He was a great Justice.
