🐿️ i was going to reveal the lyrics sometime in the future while slightly singing the verse but the content of it was…‘so what’ meant “we’re like this, so what? we’re going to keep going” so i wrote about things that we had as our goals but we couldn’t achieve 🐿️ and also how that’s how things were but getting here now, we realize that there are things that are more important 🐿️ so i wrote lyrics like “who cares if we aren’t #1, we’re probably #1 to someone”

Earlier this week, I canceled a complex breast reconstruction case because the hospital didn’t have the staff we needed to do it safely. My patient and I agreed—we weren’t going to compromise. The next day, the hospital found the staff. We did the case the right way. Standing up for what’s right worked this time. But here’s the thing: as physicians, we’re expected to uphold the highest standards—no shortcuts, no compromises. And yet we’re constantly asked to accept compromises everywhere else: staffing, time, resources. It doesn’t add up. If we want excellence for patients, we need excellence around the patient, too. It’s time to start insisting on it.
