Watch as FDIC Board Member and former Chairman, Martin Gruenberg, warned about the collapse of regional banks in 2019. He said that "regional banks have received very little attention since the financial crisis." He defined regional banks as those with assets between $50 billion and $500 billion. Gruenberg said regional banks’ “reliance on uninsured deposits has potential systemic consequences.” 4 years later, SVB collapsed with nearly $200 billion in uninsured deposits, the 2nd largest bank failure in U.S. history. The FDIC has known about this crisis for years. Why was nothing done?
