Dolly Parton was genuinely just a girl here, shy, innocent and cute and it's not acting. Dolly being asked to pick the better singer between Sylvester Stallone and Burt Reynolds She refuses. He will not let her off the hook. The diplomacy is elite. Then Sly admits she wrote songs with so many words they were “impossible.” This is why everyone loved her. It takes a smart woman to dodge that. Seeing how shy and comfortable Dolly Parton is around Sylvester Stallone makes this even more satisfying to watch.

Rocky was made for roughly $960,000, and Stallone explains how they had to keep everything simple and focus on the story rather than trying to make the movie look bigger than it was. Then he tells the story of Carl Weathers auditioning for Apollo Creed. Apparently, Weathers punched Stallone in the forehead during the audition. 😂 And the fight scenes were anything but quick to make, Stallone says they spent roughly 35–40 hours rehearsing for every minute of fight footage that actually made it into the movie. That makes those Rocky fights look very different when you realize how much work went into making them feel spontaneous. What impresses you more, making a great movie with a tiny budget, or putting that much preparation into a scene that only lasts a few minutes?

But there’s another side that gets left out. Their marriage lasted only 19 months and after it collapsed, allegations of Nielsen’s infidelity followed her including claims from Stallone’s own mother that Brigitte was cheating during the marriage. Stallone later described that period of his life very differently. He talked about being publicly humiliated, ridiculed around the world and deeply affected by the breakup. He even said the anger and misery surrounding the end of that marriage followed him into Rambo III. So when Nielsen sits across from Larry King and describes what kind of husband Stallone was, I think the facts matters. And there’s something else worth remembering: before they married, Stallone publicly described her as dedicated, family-oriented and “true to her man.” Imagine believing THAT about the person you married and then watching the whole thing implode publicly. She has had decades to tell her version of Sylvester Stallone. I’d love to hear Stallone sit down for an interview and tell his version of Brigitte Nielsen. I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Dolly Parton. She has a heart of gold and a spirit that touched so many lives. She was a true woman of God, an incredible entertainer, and of course, one of the pillars of country music. Marie and I had the pleasure of having Dolly on our show, and what a pleasure it was. She had the most amazing way of making everyone in that studio feel like they were her best friend. I think it was that sweet Southern hospitality in her. Rest in peace, Dolly. What a beautiful life you lived, and what a gift you were to the world. Your name will be forever remembered by all. "We will always love you!" 🎶💜🪽
