It’s called Zero Point Perspective.

I get it, gorgeous shots no doubt… but like, couldn’t you put this on top of literally any centered shot by any director and get the same point?

it is called a perspective and you can find those in any movie, since the beginning of movies.

He puts the object in the middle.... Groundbreaking.

"PUT THE CAMERA ON HIS DICK!" yelled Stanley at the operator. "PUT THE CENTER RIGHT ON HIS DICK, YOU HEAR ME?! I AM A FUCKING GENIUS." continued Stanley with spittle blasting out of his mouth with every word.

That's not symmetry. Its a single vanishing point.

He centers his shots. How is that geometrically innovative?

He built a perfect, chilling world inside the screen. The symmetry makes you feel like everything's in control, even when it's all falling apart.

@sadgirlcassi • Kubrick, my second favourite director, was an artist and understood that film can be an art form, and in my view, should be. His films are, in my opinion, easily re-watchable, such that we can get more from them each time we see them. •

I tried taking a few screens from Barry Lyndon and testing this out. Here's one of the same shots from the video:

In film terms this would be called a flat shot?
