🚨 Fly-tipping in Southall was the focus of a BBC One Morning Live investigation this morning - and the CCTV they filmed shows exactly why local residents have had enough. BBC Morning Live installed motion-activated cameras at two known fly-tipping hotspots in Southall - a shop corner and the entrance to a local church. The findings: • Within hours of the cameras going up, a man was filmed dumping a bin bag at the shop corner • Subsequent footage caught multiple individuals dumping large black bags • Over a few days, a single dumped bag became a magnet for more rubbish - building into a massive pile • Mattresses, furniture, clothes, bin bags and even a fridge door were among the waste documented Long-time Southall residents Angela from @cleanairforsouthallandhayes and Pastor Verona Crossfield spoke to BBC Morning Live about the impact. Pastor Crossfield highlighted how the waste affects the church - particularly during weddings and funerals. Angela noted that fly-tipping has become “normal” in the area. Cleaning up illegally dumped waste costs the UK an estimated £150 million a year, according to the Chartered Institute of Waste Management. What you can do: • Report fly-tipping in Ealing: • Provide photos / location details when reporting - speeds up enforcement action • The council can issue fixed penalty notices of up to £400 for offenders caught with evidence • Fly-tipping is a criminal offence carrying up to 5 years in prison for serious cases 📍 Southall, West London 🎥 Source: BBC One Morning Live #UB1UB2 #London #Southall #Ealing #WestLondon FlyTipping
