Reasonably priced quality builds are non existent nowadays. Trucks cost as much as houses do. It used to be if you can’t afford a nice car, go buy a pickup truck. Those days are gone. There’s no longer a used car market anymore that’s reasonable either. Thanks cash for clunkers.

I remember the mid 80s these in the Sunday paper auto section ads, $99 per month. Almost got 1 for my girlfriend, she wasn't having it, so it was dodge ram W250 4wd for her.

Definetly one of the most reliable and longest lasting vehicles made. Even when you absolutely beat them to shit 🤣😂

And they struggled to do highway speeds and rode/drove like farm implements. The power of nostalgia. Still love mine though

True. I listened to an interview with REO’s CEO and he said that Congress setting the civil penalty for missing CAFE standards to $0, is one of the factors making the brand viable. Time will tell though.

Those were amazing trucks, as were the old Datsun pickups.

I had a 1981 Toyota sr5 2 wheel drive. Bought it in 85 ish. Made a desert racer out of it and raced in the early 90’s. Until life happened. Then life happened again and I gave it to my racing partner and I moved to Texas in 2013. I wish I had it or an early 90’s xtra cab.

alloy head on a cast iron block, these were well known for overheating and warping head, other than that they were good trucks.

Our company bought a fleet of 82`s and yes indeed they were the best, Me and other employees bought the old 82`s when the company bought 87`s. We weren't impressed by the new Toyota, liked the 82`s better.

That blue one is the one we had, it would go anywhere you could imagine within reason. Excellent hunting vehicle! 🦌🏹

I always hated that we unlike other countries weren’t offered the crew-cab variants. It depends on where you were but both LHD and RHD were available.

Nice! Loved that generation of Toyota trucks. Wife had an '83 when we got married- little rusty and we sold it to a friend with around 220k miles on it. He put a new bed on, and last we heard, it was still going with over 500k. Rusty as hell, though.

Loved those trucks, had an '82 SR5 with the 22R engine. Biggest problem? The drivetrain wouldn't die even when the body was literally rotting off the frame.
