This is Bob and he has some advice from all his years of experience. This is what not to buy according to Bob. Don’t buy an RV, don’t buy a boat, don’t buy a motorcycle and don’t buy a hot tub. He says they are a waste of money, a lot of upkeep, you never use them as much as you think you will and they have a terrible resale value and depreciate. A lot of people said Bob has had his fun and now he wants to spoil the fun for others. 😂 Many others said they appreciated him sharing his experience and agreed with him. He said if you can’t eat it then you don’t need it. 😂 So in essence, don’t be like Bob. Agree or disagree- I love the way Bob tells a story. 💯 I’ve had a boat, I’ve had a motorcycle, I’ve had a hot tub and I can confirm that I didn’t use them as much as I thought I would and always had issues with them. To me, Thrive's Carvana story is one of the most impressive investments I've heard about. It's one thing to win a competitive venture deal and then the company rips and you double down as consensus builds...not taking anything away from that, it's great. Definitely a little impressive. But to buy a public stock on the way down because of hard earned conviction, and then when it continues to tank and you buy more because of you re-underwrite your thesis, and then hold until it ends up hugely in the green. I think very few people in our world can do that.

To me, Thrive's Carvana story is one of the most impressive investments I've heard about. It's by getting a lot of publishing - a lot flying around the world to talk about something. You need all of these things to bolster your reputation as an international expert in this area. Now, the best way to do that, at least in psychiatry but I suspect in other areas of medicine, is actually to collaborate with pharmaceutical companies to run clinical trials. They write the publications for you - most of it, they do a lot of the grunt work, they give you the protocols, and then, essentially, they fund you and fly you around the place. I used to remember, as a junior doctor, looking up to the Professors. And they would say, 'These drugs are safe and effective. There's not a lot of problems there.' ...What I've seen more and more is that they've been compromised, and that they have incentives tied to the money and to career advancement. That means that they can't be as forthright as they ought to be about these things. And it's gotten to a problem where these are the Professors who are training the doctors who are setting the tone for what is acceptable care out there. I think what we do as leaders at different levels is to encourage people to be part of realizing that story and reaping the benefits. And it's happening. So it's no longer something you just listen to and think it is for others and not for you. Now people believe, they start by believing. And when they start by believing and see things happening, then they believe even more and get more involved. And, I mean, the sky is the limit.
