Correct that English is an ethnicity (and white). Igbo (black), Punjabi (brown) and Ashkenazi (Jew) are also ethnicities. Your ancestry determines your ethnicity, not where you were born. There were no slaves in England. Check your facts on Windrush.

Well done. I agree with you. The bigger issue I have is the claim that Black people came here through slavery. That is not how the modern Black British population arrived. There was a small Black presence in Britain long before 1948 - some free, some brought as servants or through the trade. That is a different story from Windrush. Windrush was post-war immigration of British subjects invited to fill labour shortages (that history is also disputed if you look deep enough). Look at the actual passenger lists and government papers from 1948. You seem like a genuinely open guy, so I hope you do. Outside of that, you seem to get the insanity of the idea that English is not an identity. Respect.
