We will never see prices like that again

I stopped smoking once it hit $5/pack. Had no idea it was so much cheaper only 20 years earlier.

What if I told you people still complained

I remember shortly after 9/11 (2001) gas was .99¢ a gallon.

Could literally buy gas with loose change

This is the saddest version of this that Ive seen.

True. In 1991 I used to put $5 in my Grand Prix and I’d have a half tank of ⛽️

Go back to making $3.80 an hour then

I remember paying $.89 my senior year.

I still remember my mother pulling in and just handing a twenty or less.

Commodity prices keep going up because the value of the dollar keeps going down. Has nothing to do with lack of production or scarcity.

The money supply was about 3 Trillion vs 21 Trillion today.

I remeber getting gas a 25 cents per gallan and getting a complete set of Dallas Cowboys glasses. Even better they checked my oil and filled the car up while some guy cleaned my windows.

I still remember my mom freaking out that gas was gonna be $1. Now look at us

I remember my mother complaining about gas being $1.17 after 9/11.

@InflationDude Now do Marlboro Lights.

Those cars are not from the 90s. This has to be 2015 or later. Must have been a special deal with that line.

$3.35/hr

Also, that was real non-ethanol gas.

It was like this till the Iraq war, when the US ceased an ocean of oil...and took it off the market.

For real

Bit of a misrepresentation of gas prices in the 90s because these prices were only seen for a very short period of time in the late 90s. Gas was on average around $1.10-$1.20.

We use to cruise main street every Friday and Saturday night. It was like a dating app only in cars. It’d cost like $10-$15 a weekend. $20 if you hit the car wash first.

@BC_Houston1 oh god this is incredible

Sure. Your salary also goes back too.

Yeah but we had to devalue the dollar through successive generations for corporate bailouts and wanton payroll fraud. You pay more at the pump, but aren't you glad Bear Stearns was made solvent with a bailout before being sold to Chase? I mean that's a load off my shoulders.

.86 my senior year.

Cheapest I've ever seen was $0.99

cheap gas more white cheaper houses there were still nigs, but it wasnt so in your face. good thing we brought a bunch of indians and mexicans in to keep wages down and resource costs up, having jews in charge is awesome

Corporate greed took over

TAKE ME BACK TO THE 70s

@HBCUNightly Damn! Bill Clinton was the best! Was able to stick cigars in the intern’s booty AND keep the price of gas down AT THE SAME DAMN TIME.
