It's the June Q&A on Open Book, and you came at me with everything this month: aliens, whether there's a reckoning coming when Trump's term ends, and the honest reason it took me so long to break from him. I'm dodging none of it, plus I'm handing you a summer's worth of book recommendations. Keep the questions coming in the comments. Thank you to Joana and Big Chorux 2.0 🥷 from X for asking questions. Timestamps 0:00 June 2026 Open Book Q&A Introduction 0:45 Is there going to be a reckoning in US politics when the Trump term ends? 2:07 If you were going to grad school again today, would you still go to law school? If not, why not? 3:52 Any recommendations for resources (books, podcasts, blogs, whatever) appropriate for an early high school level (like 9th grade) on how markets really work? 5:11 X Joana Which books would you recommend a 12-year-old boy who’s an advanced reader with an interest in history and fantasy/adventure? 6:00 What’s the honest reason it took you that long to see what you now say so confidently, and what do you think current Trump-aligned officials are rationalizing right now that you used to? 8:23 What are your thoughts on the NY Democratic primary results? 9:08 I want to read more, but struggle with time. What’s a short, punchy book you would recommend? 10:04 Do you believe (as I do) that those three goals are compatible with the Democratic Socialist wave we just witnessed in the NYC primaries? 11:13 My question to you is: how can we encourage others on both sides to drop the dogma and the pitchforks, put our heads together, and think critically about these issues? 12:42 Do you have any advice for a young person looking to make a positive contribution to our democracy? 13:34 What are some practical ways for American citizens to reclaim it in a constructive way? 14:30 Who is a famous entrepreneur who you would like to see run for President? 15:32 Many leading members of the financial community have a genuine and deeply-held engagement with art. Do you collect, and do you have a favorite artist or art movement? 16:51 X Big Chorux 2.0 🥷 What's one thing you wish you knew at 20? 17:40 Which books provide the best overview of U.S. financial history, especially the role of bank bailouts and private equity in shaping the modern economy? 18:20 What is the best advice you give your kids about politics? 19:05 Has a book ever changed your opinion on an issue? If so, what was it? 20:03 Do you believe aliens are among us? 21:14 What is your best takeaway and your greatest regret from your early career days? 22:08 What are some book recommendations you can offer?

Board Certified OBGYN exposes what they must go through just to get one prescription approved by health insurance companies “This is what doctors are dealing with in 2025. So my patient needs a medication, an indicated medication for her condition. So I send the prescription to the commercial pharmacy - The pharmacist tells me that this medication needs a prior authorization and sends me a fax with a 1-800 number - The 1-800 number leads me to a pharmacy benefit manager that wants to ask my npi, my date of birth, the patient's information, what kind of the prescription is, how long do they need it for. Only to tell me at the end of the phone call that I actually have to call the patient's insurance company to authorize the prior authorization for the needed medication - So I call the patient's insurance company and once again, I have to verify my information, the patient's information, the prescription information, what the patient needs it for, only for the insurance company to tell me that this is not how they do prior authorization - So they're going to have to fax me some forms that I'm not allowed to do a prior authorization on the phone - So then the fax comes through and I fill it all out. The patient's information, my information, my npi, what the prescription is, how long they need it for, clinical documentation. And now we sit and wait and see if the powers that be think that the patient actually needs the medication” “I went to school. I went to undergraduate medical school, 4 years of OBGYN residency, then went back and did an integrative medicine fellowship, all for these people to dictate how my patient gets cared for. Please know that your healthcare providers are fighting for you day in and day out on things we don't get reimbursed for.” US Healthcare Insurance executives need to be thrown in prison for what they’ve done to our healthcare system

Egyptians and Arabs used to mock us Pakistanis 🇵🇰 when, after 1947, we would speak of the unity of the Muslim world. How can you accuse us of being a puppet of the United States? We did not carry out carpet bombing in Afghanistan—neither then nor now will we do so. The Americans wanted Quetta Shura wiped out. They wanted us to deploy our troops inside Afghanistan. We suffered losses, yes—but we still did not send in our army. The United States imposed sanctions on us. I remember being with Maleeha Lodhi - she would spend her days, from morning till night, arguing: how can you take our money and then halt the delivery of F-16 spare parts? We endured that hardship too. Today, Sadanand Sadanand Dhume says we are “obsessed” with Israel. If Israel were to return to its 1967 position today, we would have no issue with Israel. Our obsession is with the grave injustice inflicted upon the Palestinians—the latest manifestation of which we have witnessed in Gaza. For that writer, perhaps, it is no issue. Indian leaders go and embrace Netanyahu. We cannot embrace Netanyahu. Even if he were to grant Palestine statehood today, we still could not bring ourselves to embrace that man. Does that writer know that, unlike your children and mine, Palestinian children cannot even play? They're scarred for life. How can we then embrace Israel? Yes, we might benefit if we started counting pennies—if we looked away from Palestine in exchange for things like Pegasus, or the kind of electronic warfare capabilities that the Prime Minister of the 'world’s largest democracy' reportedly acquired to confront the Pakistan Air Force. If that is what we wanted, we could ignore Palestine. Has Sadanand Dhume written even a single paragraph for Palestinian mothers and children? I haven't read it. I am certain he hasn’t. Our “obsession” is with humanity itself. We have been mocked for it—but this is who we are. This is what Pakistan stands for. THAT is our 'obsession'.
