My parents let me watch Alien on HBO while they played bridge in the next room. It was “a space movie” like Star Wars they told me.

The guy who said "He needs to know that things like that could happen in life" nearly ended me. I remember my dad taking me to see Bram Stoker's Dracula when I was 7. I'm glad he didn't tell me, "You needed to know that women could come into your room and eat you at night."

Gen X, man. We were raised different. the toy glowed in the dark......just so you'd never sleep again. oh, and my folks took us to see "The Black Hole" a Disney Movie that literally ends in Hell.
