Talent like this just doesn’t exist anymore. Standing there singing, no pyro or tricks, just pure voice. I can't totally grasp the beauty hidden behind Steve Perry's voice. ''People in the 80's are the luckiest people, they lived through good music with Queen, Journey, Bon Jovi, etc. No cellphones,... show more

The pressure on Steve Perry to deliver a performance like this one, night after night, year after year was enormous. It’s easy to understand why he walked away. Incredible talent. Just incredible.

Great points to mention. Thanks.

Freddie mercury was asked what's it like to be best vocalist in world. He said ask Steve Perry legend

Oh Sherry came on at Walgreens I walked around the store until the song finished.

We DID have the Best Music ....REAL Music !! The 50's-80's ....before 'Tech' cheapened everything.

There was NO auto tune! Steve Perry sang just as good on stage as he did in the studio. Back then they had talent! Nowadays everything is produced, and it's garbage! I'm grateful I got to grow up with all these bands. No one will know who these new artists are in 20 years.

He is my all time favorite male rock singer … pure, no one like him.

If only we'd have known at the time, we were the luckiest ones and we didnt even know it.

Saw Journey with Steve Perry five times. Every show better than the one before. Steve never disappointed.

The decade of The Voices and the guitar virtuosos. At the time, you don't even realize you're living through a magical era with so much unique talent and creativity. Then it's gone.

Pure. No better word to describe him. Maybe the top rock vocalist ever. If it ain’t Freddie, it’s him. He was called The Voice for a reason.

Brings me back to high school and roller skating:) “Couples Skate”

@Alva5915George Love Steve Perry, Journey, Styx, that era was a great era for music.

Steve Perry never gets enough recognition. To me he is one of the G.O.A.T!!!

Seriously, where did voices like this go? Brad Delp, Steve Perry, Dennis DeYoung...I love all kinds of music but man, if you need gimmicks to entertain, you're just an entertainer and not a singer.

And listening to these songs bring many many tears with wonderful memories trust me!!!!!! I am not crying. You are! Haha. I always do!!!!!

And not to mention it only cost about 15 dollars to see these bands

The music still exists at least so we don’t have to listen to the crap of today

When I was a wee girl, my friends and I would go to concerts at Market Square Area in Indy. It was usually $7-$9 a ticket, but Journey! Journey made us pay $13! THIRTEEN DOLLARS! The gall! Worth every single penny ❤️❤️

Journey isn’t Journey without Steve Perry singing.

Takes me back to my 7th and 8th grade dances, also couples skate at the rink.

Steve had one of the best voices in Rock n Roll. I never get tired of listening to his beautiful voice.

A classic Journey ballad…Does a love song get any better than OPEN ARMS…

Who sung this song so loud you started laughing . 🤚🏾

Sent chills...beautiful!

He had perfect pitch. And he could just sing that way. But the pressure to perform over and over on the road was too much. I can understand why he walked away. He left a lasting impression on us all.

💓💓💓💓💘 Arriving in my friend's white Camero. Wistfully walking back to the car at The Summit. (Now Joel Osteen's mega church). Feeling dreamy driving away after the concert. Music was the best part of being a teenager at this time. This, C&W, Punk, Rock, Rap, ballad bands.

Yes we were! And stereos that shook the walls. Wonder how many have hearing loss today due to the loud concerts. 😆 loudest I can remember was ZZ Top. Ears rang for days after.

I disagree. The 70s had the best music. Both Queen and Journey started in the 70s. Throw in Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Van Halen... there's too many to mention. IMO.

Yep…..in those days, they didn’t need to trounce around in ridiculous, mostly naked costumes with a bunch of dancers to distract from the fact that THEY CAN’T SING! We were the lucky ones!

Saw the 1983 tour in Phoenix, still the #1 concert I have seen in my lifetime.

Just pure voice. I was lucky to live through that good music

Yup.... @JoulesMinds @fletch_forTRUMP @KekNative @DoodlesTrks @_DamnBucky

listen to Jeff Beck ...

✝️

Same concert and a song I haven’t heard in years. What a talented person, incredible voice, and beautiful song full of meaning.
