This is a SIMULATED engine failure in which the engine remained operational the entire time and where the pilot landed under power. It took me 30 seconds to find the video.

Wouldn't be a bit surprised if his father was a huey pilot in Vietnam. He's obviously practiced auto rotation quite a bit. He performed that flawlessly. And his constant talking? That calms the passenger, and also himself. Explaining everything that's happening. Usually though, you fly choppers as PIC from the right seat. Not sure why he was in the left. With dual controls though, it's not such a big deal.

Surprised the passenger didn't kiss him right on the mouth ... Amazing 🤩

I don’t think any of us have ever seen a helicopter, lose power, and the pilot be able to control the situation. Seems bogus to me.

Near perfect adrenaline control.

That’s called an autorotation and I wouldn’t be surprised if that pilot was trained at Fort Rucker, Alabama where IP’s routinely and abruptly shut the engine off to prepare them for actual warfare conditions. Really great pilots come out of there.

This is a training session. The engine is stopped on purpose. In training you are trained not to panic.

Two reasons he was successful, he was white and he was male.

I've heard that this auto-rotation glide feature is what enables helicopters to land without engine power, but never seen one this week documented. Thank you for sharing.
