Tampa Mayor @JaneCastor out here begging residents to vote against cutting property taxes because “the government needs that money.” Meanwhile Hillsborough got DOGE’d hard — state auditors flagged ~$279M in excess spending, and the county’s own DOGE committee found $670M+ in potential cuts and waste. Property tax bills in the Tampa area are up ~57% since 2019. Tampa led major U.S. cities in the rate of increase 2021–2023. Government doesn’t have a revenue problem. It has a spending problem.

In 2019 Florida received 31 billion from property tax. In 2025 Florida received 61 billion. Jane has had a huge windfall of revenue yet the streets and bridges of Tampa are in terrible condition and the crime rate is higher than most other Florida cities. Jane has been wasting your money.
