His first reaction was to take his hat off, sign of respect 👌

Really one of the most moving things I ever saw.

A very confident character, Ian Wright instantly became that little boy again as soon as he saw Mr Pigden. He must have been one hell of a teacher.

❤️

A wonderful moment that moved me at the time and still does. Demonstrates the effect of a positive, encouraging Father figure to a young boy, which ideally would be the Father but if not a teacher can be a role model and someone to aspire to.

Fabulous piece of footage. Lots of young teachers in our family and the daughter of one of our oldest friends is lucky enough to work for you 👏👏👏

I just love the way he takes his cap off as a show of respect.

And truly good teachers are diamonds in the rough Katherine is a diamond

This brings tears to my eyes every time. The immediate respect and affection from Ian is palpable. What a profound positive influence Mr. Pigden must have had on Ian's life as a boy! What an incredible reward for a dedicated teacher. :)

Mutual respect, a heart warming experience

Always brings tears to my eyes.

My primary school teachers defo helped mould me. Even one or two of my hs teachers. Mr Barker . U made it OK to ask WHY. Best chem teach ever. Mr Mooney, u gave me a curiosity for history. Miss Frazer, u showed me a young, strong, professional woman. Grateful 2 u all.

Should be the best job, but often isn't!

Thankyou for reminding us, society, what we can do. You’ve been an inspiration to so many people, both young and old.

I miss it. 😔

Beautiful

Too true. I remember Mr Street at Chells School, brilliant bloke, went out of his way to share his love of 50s/60s music with me….. Always wanted to thank him (I think he’s long dead now, I’m talking about late 70s) Good teachers are basically good people.

You ain’t taught in 20 years

I stayed in touch with my 3d grade teacher for decades, till she passed away in her 90's. Kind, firm, inspirational. She also adored the Doc Martin series, so, on a holiday there, I got her a box of endless goodies - a small debt repaid!

❤️💙🦅

Helping kids learn is a great job. I'm not crazy keen on a lot of the other stuff though - IT related initiatives that do nothing for learning and make you feel you're just serving the software. Teachers who follow your directives at least see a teaching environment that works.

Right Right Right ! 🙂 And a fine Gooner he was 🌟🏆
