Teaching moment. Here's a classic Matt Christman clip on the issues with modern disability politics.

Take us home Matt.

They've got a point. Right now I'm enjoying two days off of work but I can't enjoy it because the phrase "the working class" centers people who are not currently on their regularly scheduled days off of work.

What?

we need him back so bad

Did you see his election night poem?

This types of semantics fights are so eye-rolling. Most disabled people are also working. They are not seperate categories. Fighting for the working class already includes fighting for better conditions and benefits for disabled people.

I agree with this but I also do genuinely see a lot of people on the left dismiss real concerns of people who deal with long COVID and other respiratory issues whom politely ask others to mask to accommodate their needs and these requests get framed as self-centered

Yes I also see people, as someone with a breathing disorder, who are not disabled, telling me, someone who can’t wear a mask without it effecting me negatively, that I should wear a mask if I cared about others. When the people they claim to be protecting are disabled people.

Incredible to see so many people actually agree with Matt and myself on this. Good lord, are we learning?

'everyone is disabled actually', 'people are just seeking attention', 'they're too focused on themselves', 'they get mad at over ableism' ableism is just one of many complex interlocking spheres of hierarchy. glad i'm not compelled to reduce everything to only one like matt
