Team Innocent (PC‑FX, 1994) is a survival horror/adventure that masterfully mixes sprites with pre‑rendered backgrounds. The gameplay is dated, but you can still take down zombies with your bare hands, which is always cool.

Maybe I went a bit too far with “masterfully” lol, but it's a cool game. Give it a try if you get the chance.

Oh, so there were zombies in Team Innocent. I didn't think it was zombie horror since it begins in a space station but I never got beyond the first enemy fight which was just some generic creature.
