The battles in Sweida, which everyone had heard about, took place. Some people came to us and told us that the Bedouin tribal sheikhs and the Druze sheikhs had agreed that we would remain brothers and that no problems would arise. Then they returned to us in the evening and told us not to leave our homes and that no one would harm us. I stayed in my home because I was going to work the next day. My husband and child stayed with me. My husband is sick and needs a joint replacement, so we did not leave. But our neighbors left their homes and fled the area. The next day, the Druze militia returned to our area and installed heavy weapons on a nearby hill, despite their promise not to harm us. They then targeted families and civilians in the neighborhood with mortar shells. We were directly targeted for two hours despite our attempts to flee the area. Then the Hajri militia searched every house individually, armed with handguns and rifles. They asked us if we had money, phones, weapons, or identification. We told them we were civilians, didn't have any weapons, and didn't know how to use them. My husband, a civilian, didn't know how to use them. I told them there was only a sick man and my child, and we were all trying to take shelter in our house. They told me I was now a prisoner. They also captured my husband and covered his face with the shirt he was wearing. I told them we were neighbors from Amad, and yesterday you had promised us safety and that we wouldn't be targeted. Why are you doing this to us now? They told me no. Then they did the same thing to the rest of the houses in the area. After that, someone came to us and, by chance, he knew my husband before. He hid us in one of the houses, gave us water to drink, and allowed my child to use the bathroom. He was kind and respectful, while the rest were just a criminal gang. Then they gathered everyone they had captured in the mosque. When I entered the mosque, I found many dead people. I found one of the children beheaded, and his mother was my neighbor. Did you see what happened? I saw them because the militia brought all the bodies to the mosque for burial. I saw one of our neighbors, who had difficulty moving due to rheumatism, and they shot him in the feet. Then they took him away, claiming they were going to treat him. Instead, they killed him in front of the mosque. This is what I saw with my own eyes. After that, because I was a nurse, they brought the injured to the mosque for treatment, even though they claimed they were taking them to the hospital. One of the family members was a doctor. I saw five of their injuries with my own eyes, all of them children. Then they made successive promises that they would release us that same day. The guards who escorted us were respectful. As for food, they offered us a cup of bulgur for every five people. I'm now trying to remember the details of what happened. There wasn't enough water, and we were over 1,000 prisoners. Why were they holding you? They told us we were prisoners, promising us they would release us. We held our belongings by the door, waiting for our release. Were they viewing you as civilian prisoners? We are prisoners of Of course. They held us captive so they could force us out of our homes and out of Sweida Governorate. I remember them asking me, "Why didn't you leave your home?" I told them you came to us yesterday, promised us safety, and told us not to leave our homes. out, so now they are asking why. When in reality, they wanted to forcibly displace us from our homes. Where are you now? We are now in Daraa Governorate. They brought us here today. 1/2 #SaveSweidaBedouins #AlHijriGangsKillChildren #Syria

So A16Z GAMES a16z speedrun 🧊 is in the books. It has been quite a ride for Avataros (story below) but since most won't read that far, huge shout out to our cohort lead Troy Kirwin for just being awesome, and andrew chen and the whole A16Z GAMES team for a truly excellent program. In August of last year we got accepted to Speedrun 2 in SF. My wife and I were expecting our 3rd child and we realized the little guy would be due to pop during the program. This was such an amazing opportunity that we moved heaven and earth to make it happen (shout out to the most amazing wife and mom in the world Meron Bratzel). But as things go, the day before I was set to get on a plane to San Francisco, I got a call from my wife. She was at a check-up with her OB. We were still more than 5 weeks away from the due date but they were going to keep her at the hospital indefinitely. I got to the hospital, spoke with my wife and the doctors, and then when I had a minute I called Troy and told him the situation. The A16Z Team got back to me nearly instantly and told me not to give it a second thought - come to Speedrun 3 instead. Little RoRo was born just a few days later, and he and his Mama were both in perfect health. And it turned out Speedrun 3 was held in my own backyard of LA at the new A16Z office, making it much more convenient for us with a newborn. Having this come full circle, with such an amazing response and result on all fronts is truly remarkable, and I'm so appreciative of everyone that has supported us along the way.

👤: Let me ask one more question. These days, many fandoms have their own “rules”, like expecting certain interactions or moments with fans. Does your fandom have anything like that? 🌻: Honestly, for us, everything is very natural. Sometimes the fans sulk at us, and sometimes we sulk at the fans. 🍑: We take turns sulking. 😆 🌻: Sometimes we tease the fans, and sometimes they tease us back. Because we feel like… 🍑: We’re like a family. 🌻: Exactly. Our relationship has always been built on love. No matter what happens, we’re genuinely happy for everyone, and they’re always happy for everything we do. As for me, the way I support my fans is by staying by their side, whether they’re feeling happy, sad, heartbroken, or going through difficult times. We don’t really have any strict rules. The one thing we always hold onto is respecting each other. That’s the only rule we have. ⸻ 👤: Fans have always given both of you so much love. Is there anything you’d like to say to or thank them for? 🌻: Thank you to all of our fans. Whether we win an award or not, wherever we go, I always say the same thing: our fans are my greatest source of support. They’re the most important people who made it possible for me to stand where I am today, to receive these awards, create meaningful work, and have the motivation to keep going. Because I know there are people waiting to watch my work, waiting to love it, appreciate it, and even give me feedback. I’m truly grateful for all of it. Without our fans, there wouldn’t be a Faye. There wouldn’t be us standing here today. I always say the same thing: our fans believed in me even on the days when I couldn’t believe in myself. And because today we believe in each other, that’s why we’re able to stand here together. ⸻ 👤: What about you, Atom? Is there anything you’d like to say? 🍑: I want to thank them too. I always thank our fans because they’ve become a part of my everyday life. It’s like we’ve become part of each other’s lives, supporting one another. That’s why I feel like we simply can’t be without each other anymore. I’m so happy they’re in my life, and I’m also happy that they feel the same way about us. So I just want to thank them, from day one until today, and I hope I’ll be able to keep thanking them for a very, very long time. Dear Everyone, The last few days have been hell. Losing Kiyo has not been easy and I’m not ok. Kiyo gave me the best time of my life. The level of joy you brought into my word and any space he was able to exist in was incomparable. Kiyo was my lover, my best friend, and my truth. He truly saw me for who I was and I saw him for who he was. I didn’t just love him, I believed in him, prayed for his victory. I cared for him. Who would have thought that bringing back a piece of Tupperware would invite me into the world of the purest, kindest soul in the world. Kiyo would do anything for anyone. He was my hero and I was his. We both kept our capes on for each other whenever we needed to save the other person. I am grateful that I got to experience a love like his. I am grateful I got to spend some of the best moments of my life with him. I am grateful that even I grieve I still feel his warmth and care. Kiyo taught me be more patient and understanding and no matter how we came into this world and no matter how bad the world treated us, it doesn’t give us the right to exact that same unkindness to others. He loves animals, anime, a good meal, Steven Universe, a really inappropriate joke, and you never had to guess how he felt about you. As he was goofy he was charming. I still feel his hands interlocked into mine and he was fearless. He loved like no other man I have met in this world could. The first night we reconnected he gave my cat Patrick the middle name Bayard. He gave me first Christmas full of love and laughs. The first man in my life to actually pay attention to me and surprise me with gifts that he knew I would love and were true to who I was as a nerd. Anytime I could get it, I was with him. He had full access to my home and my heart. To Mike and Rico thank you for always being there for him and caring for him, Mike you coming into town in March really lit him up. First time I got to dance with him. Rico thank you for taking him to there museum. He loved every moment of it. All he could do was rave about how much made his day. To Tony, his wife and his gaming community on Destiny 2, thank you for being patient with my baby and giving him space to be man that he was and to his Dad and his brothers. He loved y’all more than you know. All he wanted was for y’all to be ok. And to all his true friends and loved ones know that he always thought of y’all. I will never say goodbye to Kiyoki-D’Andre Marcel Toliver, I will say see you later because no matter where you are I know you are watching me because what we had was Immortal. As I grieve I will try to give any notice on his memorial service which will be in NYC because his grandmother sent him here to find the best version of himself and I know he truly did. I want to share this video I made months ago because I was so proud of the man I had. I want to share also the last video he took of me before we went to Brooklyn Comic-Con. If there are typos forgive me.

Unknown to many of you, before Mansa Plus, I was (feels weird saying I was, I still I’m) a musician. @raysmanifests was my music manager! We gave it our all! But guess what, it didn’t work out! Put in a lot of money, recording music, making videos, pushing the songs, but the result was next to zero. On my music YouTube Channel I have under 1400 subscribers! @willyskihumba has had his days as a musician and a Dj, but I will let him tell his story! To an outsider, that looks like failure, and for sure it is failure! However, it was that experience that we used to build Mansa Plus, or rather prepped us to handle what was coming. When we were busy begging people to subscribe and watch our content, it didn’t feel weird because we had been doing it throughout our music days. When we tried to work with certain people and they shut doors on us, we were in familiar territory. When we went months without pay but showed up everyday, that was the norm in our music days! When some people made fun of me and my accent, come on, we were already used to it! And when it came down to work, I was already used to being in front of the camera… I guess as Jay says, it’s not failure it’s a lesson. I’m very proud of what we are doing in this space, and I’m even more proud of every moment that has read us here! It really is in the journey and who you journey with. Luckily, I get to do this with two good friends who are super humans when it comes to their jobs! To all my friends, family and people that I don’t even know who watch our content, and buy our services, know that I’m super grateful. Thank you for making this moment possible! #MansaPlus to the World

I first met Saud Abdulhamid on my very first trip to Riyadh. Saudi Arabia. I had gone there to see Odion Ighalo, back when he was still playing for Al Hilal. That day, I was standing outside the training ground, just waiting, taking everything in. Then suddenly, a beautiful white G-Wagon pulled up. The windows were fully tinted, so you couldn’t see who was inside. For a moment, I was convinced it had to be Ighalo. As the window rolled down, I got ready to greet him—only to be met by Saud, flashing his trademark smile. He waved at me, and I waved back, even though, truthfully, I had no idea who he was at the time. Not long after, Ighalo arrived, and we headed into the training ground. That’s when I properly met Saud, along with his brother. We had a brief chat before training started, and that was the beginning. Our paths crossed again when Saudi Arabia played Nigeria in a friendly match in Portugal. After the game, in the middle of the crowd, I heard someone shout, “Ighalo!”—it was Saud. From there, we stayed connected, following each other online, keeping in touch in our own way. Then came another reunion, this time in Lens, inside his small but tastefully furnished apartment in the heart of the city. Back then, things were still uncertain for him. He wasn’t playing regularly, but I remember him telling me clearly that he wanted to stay in Europe, stay with Lens, and fight for his place. There was a quiet determination about him. I could feel it. And today, looking at his journey, that belief has paid off. He has grown into an important player for the club, playing his part in helping them secure a Champions League spot. He’s become one of Saudi Arabia’s biggest ambassadors in Europe. And life keeps moving forward. He just got married too. Big congratulations to you, my brother. My next video will be dedicated to him. What a guy!
