this is so cool. I’m from Appalachian Pennsylvania and I grew up saying it the way the Indiana County person says it so is that a northern thing? I live next to the Appalachian Trail and I’ve never ever heard anyone not pronounce the trail Appa-layshun

It is for PA! We did a survey a few months back about how people pronounce it.

Listening to even just this little teaser has made me tear up, because hearing my folks being represented is so rare. Reminded me of listening to the Leslie Jordan autobiography that he read himself in his thick Chattanooga accent
