I think it’s possible that there may be some subconscious aspirational billionaire worship. And there’s less of a cultural/language barrier, in a sense. Plus, these particular CEOs are essentially sales guys, they know how to market stuff.

Yes 100% - our culture is dominated by people who worship money so they view those who are rich like gods who can do no wrong. There’s a general bias that they are right, and that climate scientists or ‘eco activists’ for instance, are wrong.

We don’t have many “eco activists” here in the states, and our mass media gave the climate scientists very little attention. So many people here just don’t even know what’s been predicted over the past few IPCC reports.

I am not scared of AI because I think climate will win and get us first 🙄

The tech bros could be wrong. That's drama. The scientists are most definitely right, so no drama to show, only grim news.

Reigning in the AI bots might help them keep their secrets and stay in power. Reigning in the use of fossil fuels just costs them cash flow. They think they'll be just fine in a +4C world.🤷‍♂️

All the CEOs are agreeing this is very dangerous/ out of control and begging for slowdown/ regulatory framework. Yet Trump says they don’t need regulation because he’s President and “very clever”. What can possibly go wrong? 😱

Get your head out of your ass for 5 seconds and look at this objectively. When the folks who really understand AI and are in competition with one another agree on something, pay the fuck attention. You know nothing about AI except to throw rocks at anything remotely connected to Trump.

Both can be true and both can be ignored.

We can see clearly who controls the media.

Is the climate stuff from 1978?

It’s all about the money and the status unfortunately and it always has been. If the US government started paying ppl in the 80s for their deceleration / anti-deforestation / anti-fossil fuel opinions and these ppl became wealthy advocates, the landscape would be totally diff.

The climate "crisis" has been on the news for decades. Notably after decades we have still no idea on how to manage it (without instating a global government deciding over fair & sustainable economic policy). AI wasn't a thing 4y ago and few gatekeepers WW decide over it.

Balancing innovation with responsibility, particularly in the realm of AI, is currently impractical. Efforts to regulate AI without stifling innovation remain unattainable.

If you understand the way that LLM's work, it is plausible that they pose every kind of security threat. I'm not ruling out another explanation… But there are certainly risks.
