Tech careers are now split into 3 tracks

It's never was about writing code, it's always been about solving problems. That's it.

His youtube and blog are gold mines. Beyond the tech he gets into the impact AI will have on existing work.

Wrong. Regulated environments won't use AI. Someone has to be held responsible. Blaming your AI won't fly.

@lennysan the missing 4th track: people who stopped calling themselves "technical" or "non-technical" and just started shipping with AI as a cofounder. two of us are doing what a 15-person team did 2 years ago. the track labels are dissolving.

@lennysan I agree this would be the 4th track, everyone is a builder now.

The domain experts are also going to zero. Orchestration is also going to zero. VERY soon, hardware will be the only game in town.

Horrific take lol. Dude’s over complicating it, the job was never about writing code. It was always about solving problems that deliver outsized outcomes. That hasn’t changed and it never will. Identity problems -> find optimal way to deliver solutions

What could go wrong with becoming highly dependent on non-sapient machines regurgitating our own crap that we fed it? Clearly we mastered software engineering to the degree that this is a reasonable and healthy path forward. What could possibly go wrong?

Bro is literally just reading from AI as his script. lol

This applies for non engineering roles too. Don’t expect companies to sit with you and train you on how to work with and manage agents. Learn now or be left behind permanently.

The absolute smartest take on what is happening today so far.

Somehow I found myself in lane 3. I have no coding experience but somehow have built a few protocols and an upcoming app as well

The prognosticators are never held accountable for being so wrong.

Surprise: Everything you hear was itself written by AI

Not quite. The blocks of code are fine, the syntax is nearly perfect, but the overall application is never quite optimized for the task at hand. It's the difference between a choir singing in tune (sublime) and out of tune (miserable).

The domain translator is what a lot of infrastructure focused folks are being forced into doing. We end up translating what will work then forcing people under us to babysit it then report to us any issues. Suddenly you have 2 jobs and service level agreements for both. Same Pay

Successful software has nothing to do with the actual software, it about who you know.

watching people read AI scripts about AI... the internet is so gay now

AI is good at writing code, but it struggles with "business-specific" logic. Developers spend significant time correcting, reviewing, and testing AI-generated code, meaning the time saved is far less than claimed

What a horrible take.

He's vastly underestimating what the real token cost is, and how many of them will be required to reach skilled human level.

No me gusta su aspecto

I have news for ya…it’s way over sold. Except for extremely simple shit, the AI doesn’t generate what you want it to or think it will. You have to be extremely good at prompting…and after 25 years in tech, how can you tell AI what to build when the business people don’t know.

@grok can you summarize the video and list the 3 types of roles based on most important

might be one of the worst takes ive seen. gotta follow so i can see what types of opinions idiots have so i can do the opposite. ty

𝚍̶𝚒̶𝚜̶𝚊̶𝚙̶𝚙̶𝚎̶𝚊̶𝚛̶𝚒̶𝚗̶𝚐̶ disappeared

If they do this, testing jobs will explode. Hacking will have a new renaissance.

Nobody ever talks about security and security engineers in this context

Those that deeply understand this are shifting to $TAO which will be the foundational layer of DeAI. Centralized AI isn’t sustainable

Yeah, right! We were there with PCs reaching homes in the 90's. Designers are still the ones who create the context and art. PC didn't turn masses into design geniuses. Neither will AI.

disagree.

Wrong. You still need to be professionally competent to write a maintainable code. The way you write code changes, but code won’t be written by itself or random people.

did somebody say factory manager

very true

Super++.
