Tech companies must begin the process of identifying and removing illegal content from their sites from today in the first phase of new Online Safety laws. The second phase will focus on tackling child safety, pornography and protecting women and girls. Nick Dixon reports.

@NickDixonITV Most of these tech companies are all registered in the US, I wouldn't hold my breath for anything to actually be done against any of them, especially since the UK can't even extradite a woman for running over a young man from the US!

@NickDixonITV I am a user of X. I have been asked numerous times about age and have complied but it doesn’t go anywhere, they just keep asking so i click it off now. also i have had a lot of porn involving young girls appearing, tried to report it and left just hanging so gave up in the end.

@NickDixonITV Although agree with this. How long before it's changed to the only be the narrative the government or media want anything else is non grata and thought police come a knocking.
