This rant was amazing. That said, my entry into programming involved using putty and nano to do stupid C exercises, so of course I missed semicolons, and other dumb shit. if you're doing absolutely arcane stuff, and not using IDEs, I can totally see this mistake still happening

Exact same thing with CSS and "centering a div", irks me every time I see it. Horizontally and vertically centering a div has been extremely easy for at least 10 years.

not a semicolon, but this actually cost me an hour Yesterday, the comma at the end of the first line, assigned a tuple instead of a string..

I think linters solved this.
