The Long Island Expressway was shut down in both directions, and the F train suspended service due to station flooding at Jamaica-179th Street. The first 'SafeZebra' automated pedstrian crossing safety device has been fitted in Southend on Sea this week. Patented and IP protected technology, it is designed to significantly improve pedestrian safety at crossings. Automatically activated when a pedestrian goes to step on the crossing, the amber LED strip lights start to flash to warn motorists, whilst the LED flood lights add signinfcant addtional lighting. The device automatically reverts to a passive state after a set time. The automation means the pedestrian does not have to do anything, whilst being extremly energy efficient, as it negates the need for addtional perminant lighting. It will save lives whilst saving energy.

🌊🌧 #MumbaiRains #floods: Why was flooding so severe in #Vasai, #Virar & #Nalasopara this time? 🌧️ The rainfall was exceptional across the entire region. Both Vasai-Virar and its surrounding river catchments witnessed very heavy to extremely heavy rains. However, the widespread flooding wasn't caused by rainfall over Vasai-Virar alone, it was the result of multiple factors occurring simultaneously, with enormous upstream river discharge, tidal locking and urban drainage systems struggling to cope with such unprecedented volumes of water. The Ulhas River, originating near Lonavala, received extraordinary inflows after its upper catchment recorded around 1569 mm of rainfall in just 3 days. Torrential rain across the Ulhas Valley, Pune Ghats and Thane interiors sent enormous volumes of water into Vasai Creek.🌊🏞 At the same time, intense rainfall over the Nashik Ghats ⛰️, Igatpuri, Trimbakeshwar, Shahapur and Palghar swelled the Vaitarna River, which drains into the sea just north of Virar. The Tungareshwar ranges ⛰️ also received torrential rain, with numerous streams and nallas adding further runoff into the Vasai-Virar drainage network. Meanwhile, Vasai, Virar and Nalasopara themselves were experiencing torrential rainfall of about 600-700mm in last 3 days, generating massive local runoff. The region was effectively jammed from both sides. 🚨 JUST IN: Greg Biffle and his family were aboard his jet when it crashed this morning in Statesville, NC, his close friend Garrett Mitchell confirmed There were no survivors. Biffle was an absolute HERO, and I personally worked with him in Western NC after Helene as he risked his own life using his personal helicopter to save COUNTLESS lives. He delivered chainsaws, EpiPens, baby formula, fuel, and food to stranded families in inaccessible places surrounded by flood water, and asked for nothing from anybody. This is a tremendous loss for our country. I’m so sick to my stomach over this. Rest in peace, Greg, Cristina, Emma, and Ryder 🙏🏻

Across many of our regions, work is underway to address the aftermath of Russia’s attack. It is confirmed that Russia launched more than 470 attack drones and 48 missiles of various types against Ukraine overnight – one ballistic and the rest cruise missiles. In Ternopil, residential nine-story buildings were hit, causing fires. Unfortunately, there is significant destruction, and there may be people trapped under the rubble. All necessary emergency services are on the ground, trying to save every life. As of now, dozens of people have been injured and, sadly, 9 people have been killed. My condolences to their families. There was also a massive strike, beginning already in the evening, against our Kharkiv. Dozens of people have been wounded in the city, including children. Energy facilities, transport, and civilian infrastructure have been damaged. Our energy infrastructure in the Ivano-Frankivsk region was attacked as well. Three people were wounded, including two children. In the Lviv region, critical infrastructure and energy facilities were targeted. A person was injured in the Donetsk region. Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Dnipro regions also came under attack. Every brazen attack against ordinary life proves that the pressure on Russia is still insufficient. Effective sanctions and assistance for Ukraine can change this. The top priority is air defense missiles, additional systems, expanded capabilities for our combat aviation, and drone production to protect lives. Russia must be held accountable for its actions, and we must stay focused on everything that strengthens us and enables us to shoot down Russian missiles, neutralize Russian drones, and stop assaults. Thank you to everyone around the world who is helping.

Energy facilities, transport, and civilian infrastructure have been damaged. Our energy infrastructure in the Ivano-Frankivsk region was attacked as well. Three people were wounded, including two children. In the Lviv region, critical infrastructure and energy facilities were targeted. A person was injured in the Donetsk region. Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, and Dnipro regions also came under attack. Every brazen attack against ordinary life proves that the pressure on Russia is still insufficient. Effective sanctions and assistance for Ukraine can change this. The top priority is air defense missiles, additional systems, expanded capabilities for our combat aviation, and drone production to protect lives. Russia must be held accountable for its actions, and we must stay focused on everything that strengthens us and enables us to shoot down Russian missiles, neutralize Russian drones, and stop assaults.
