Who teaches these people the economics they are doing is not doing them any good. Inflation is due to increased government spending. Taxing the citizens more will not curb inflation as long as the government doesn't see any issue with dolling out huge sums of money to do frivolous projects that do not add to the productivity of the economy. They either don't know this or are willfully being deceptive towards Nigerians.

Businesses in America have moved quickly and are now demanding refunds for the tariffs they paid after the pronouncement by the United States Supreme Court that Donald Trump’s tariffs were illegal. So this is how the tariffs worked. If you imported goods from South Africa and there was an illegal 30 percent tariff on them, the company importing the goods from South Africa would have had to pay that 30 percent tariff to the American government and then pass that cost on to the consumer. For instance, if an American company ordered a bottle of wine from South Africa and there was a 30 percent tariff on it, which the Supreme Court has now pronounced illegal, and that bottle cost US$1 to import, once it reached America the importer would have to add the 30 percent tariff, taking the cost to US$1.30. The importing company would then add its own margin, say another US$0.30 as profit. Ordinarily, without the tariff, that bottle might have retailed at around US$1.30, but because of the additional 30 percent tariff, it would end up costing the consumer about US$1.60. In effect, the 30 percent tariff was passed directly on to the consumer through higher retail prices. What American businesses are now saying is that they want that 30 percent tariff refunded. So the company that imported the bottle of wine from South Africa and sold it for US$1.60, comprising 30 percent tariff and 30 percent profit, now wants the tariff component returned to them. How consumers themselves will be reimbursed, if at all, remains unclear, and that is likely to become the next area of legal and commercial contestation. The Fed's dots are ridiculous. A majority of the FOMC now thinks it might have to raise rates to fight oil inflation. They just met, and a lot of them concluded they need to be like Trichet. The projected fed funds range moved up about half a point from March. A serious hawkish shift, and an absurd one given where oil and TIPS break-evens are. That is why the Treasury curve flattened. The front end is pricing a growing chance they actually hike. The flat curve is saying it will not last. Here is the core mistake. The Fed's models see inflation because oil prices went up. But oil is not inflation. Oil can lift the CPI for a few months, and it has. But a relative price shock is not sustained inflation. For oil to become real inflation, the shock has to spread. You need wages chasing prices. Businesses gaining pricing power. Expectations moving. Demand strong enough to absorb higher costs. None of that is happening. Not in the markets, and not in the CPI details. So look at the board. TIPS are falling. The Treasury curve is flattening. Oil spreads are flattening. The IEA is cutting demand. And the Fed's response is to print more hawkish dots, because some officials still think the main risk is inflation. That is the misdiagnosis. The market can see it. Morgan Stanley just FIRED 2,500 people. Not because the company is struggling. They posted record revenue last year, $70.6 billion, and it was their best year ever. But they fired them anyway. Investment banking, wealth management, front office, back office and across all divisions. The CEO of Anthropic, the company building one of the most powerful AI systems on Earth, went on national television and said AI will wipe out 50% of entry-level white collar jobs. Entry-level law, finance and consulting. The exact jobs Morgan Stanley just cut. Last week, Jack Dorsey laid off 4,000 people at Block. Nearly half the company and his reason? AI tools make humans unnecessary. He said most companies will reach the same conclusion within a year. Morgan Stanley's own research team surveyed nearly 1,000 companies already using AI. They found an 11% job elimination rate, a 4% net headcount decline, and productivity up 11.5%. The machines are cheaper, faster and they don't need health insurance. Morgan Stanley itself predicted 200,000 European banking jobs will disappear in five years. And then they started cutting their own. Record profits, record layoffs while AI gets the credit and workers get the door. The man building the technology is telling you it's coming. The banks using the technology are proving it. And yet no one in Washington has a plan.

The President, is building a bridge linking Benue State and Taraba State, yet people in these places are not posting about it. A lot of the projects the President is executing across Nigeria are not being highlighted by residents. Why? You don’t post what he is doing in your city or appreciate it, yet you complain that nothing is being done. Just recently, the Abuja–Kaduna highway has been trending, yet hardly anyone based there is posting about it. That’s not fair. You cannot ignore ongoing projects and then claim the President is doing nothing in your city,it’s not criticism, it’s misinformation. For example, I choose to appreciate what the President is doing in Lagos because it is visible and impactful. The road networks being developed on the island will reduce travel time, improve productivity, and make life easier for residents. When the government does something good, I will say it. Yes, there is inflation, and the government should work towards reducing the cost of living so Nigerians can thrive better. But it is still important to acknowledge the good being done. Please highlight projects in your own cities. Thank you, Mr. President, for your efforts. I know it is taxpayers’ money, but I still choose to appreciate it. Please continue to build more infrastructure. For example,Lagos needs more infrastructure, especially with the level of real estate development going on. More bridges, more road networks etc,this will make life easier for residents and future residents. Even if others don’t appreciate it, I do.
