Even Bloomberg and Reuters—two of the most relentlessly anti-China media outlets—could not avoid revealing the truth in their own question: The U.S. Federal Communications Commission announced a ban on imports of humanoid robots without naming any country. Yet China is currently the dominant supplier. What is China’s response? The funniest part is this: China holds six of the world’s ten most innovative humanoid-robotics start-ups, including a clean sweep of the top five, while the United States is falling behind. So competition was renamed “national security.” China’s response was unusually direct: Protectionism will not make the United States more competitive. It will only hurt American companies and consumers. The message is simple. If American robotics were genuinely competitive, Washington would not need to remove Chinese firms from the market by decree. A ban may keep Chinese robots out of America. It will not stop Chinese companies from dominating the rest of the world. You can close your market. You cannot legislate away an industrial trend. America is not banning Chinese robots because they failed. It is banning them because American robots did.

CES was an enormous success. We saw thousands of people and a few dogs interacting with our agents and robots. We booked this booth at the last minute, mainly to book next year’s booth. Truly extraordinary what our team was able to put together on such short notice. Next year we reserved one of the largest booths at CES in the highest traffic location for AI and Robotics. We plan to unveil something extraordinary. Until the next show, we will be debuting the first custom models that will emerge from the first humanoid robotics hot rod shop. These models will be walking around, talking and interacting at tradeshows all over the world over the next few months. We are in the process of acquiring every humanoid robot available on the market to modify these as well. Stay tuned for more updates, the future is here and it’s rapidly accelerating.

It was all so we could build homes with robots. All of our work in floorplan AI,and generative CAD modeling, we did all of that, just so that we could build homes with robots. Early on we talked to a robotics engineer from Katerra. It took them $750k to switch from one house to another house. It takes us 25 minutes, and that's if we had a big lunch. P.S. The soundtrack is hardcore punk, lyrics written by me, but everything else is udio.

Something big is happening in robotics - and it’s hiding in plain sight. This post is not about dancing robots but in the data that powers them. Open robotics datasets have exploded this year, turning the field into a more scalable and collaborative ecosystem. In just two years, Hugging Face datasets grew from 11k to over 600k - and robotics is by far the fastest-growing segment. We went from 1k robotics datasets in 2024 to 27k in 2025! For comparison, text generation, the second-largest category, has only around 5k datasets in 2025. That gap is massive. Open datasets are important because robotics lives and dies by real-world robot data - video, actions, sensors, failures. By making this data easy to upload, reuse, and benchmark, researchers, startups, and large players are now releasing real-robot datasets that would have stayed locked inside labs just a few years ago. Major contributors include NVIDIA, LeRobot initiative, and a rapidly growing maker community. This surge is also enabled by cheaper video storage, better tooling, and an open-source AI culture now spilling into the physical world. And it really matters: open robotics data dramatically lowers entry barriers, accelerates learning-by-doing, and speeds up progress toward generalist and humanoid robots. Robotics won’t scale through hardware alone - but to a large extent through shared data. Viz below from AI World - link to the story and more viz/filters in comment.

🚀Thrilled to share what we’ve been building at TRI over the past several months: our first Large Behavior Models (LBMs) are here! I’m proud to have been a core contributor to the multi-task policy learning and post-training efforts. At TRI, we’ve been researching how LBMs can help robots learn faster, better, and more efficiently. The key takeaways: ✅ We built an evaluation pipeline to benchmark LBM performance with real 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 ✅ Pre-training on hundreds of tasks makes models more robust—plus, we can teach new, complex tasks with 80% 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 ✅ The bigger and more diverse the pre-training, the better the results Check out our overview video, webpage and paper for more details: ✨ 🌎 📄 We hope this work helps move the field of robotics forward!

Agility Robotics and Boston Dynamics to Unitree: “Go back to China!” Leading US robotics companies have expressed support for the restrictions. Agility CEO Peggy Johnson issued a statement endorsing the GUARD Act, saying it “sends an important market signal as US robotics companies continue investing in resilient supply chains, domestic manufacturing capabilities, and trusted technologies.” In a recent interview with futurist Peter Diamandis, she said the Oregon-based robotics firm has been working with the Trump Administration. “We have an administration that’s very focused on the humanoid robots not going the way drones did,” she said. “We used to actually have a drone industry in the US and it’s largely gone offshore. They’re trying to prevent that same thing from happening to humanoids.” Earlier this year, Boston Dynamics sent its VP of software, Matthew Malcano, to Washington to testify before Congress about its biggest overseas rival. “Unitree is rapidly capturing market share in the US university, research, and law enforcement markets,” he said. “Researchers have reported crucial Unitree cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Unitree’s robots have also been seen in PLA military exercises and its ties to Chinese military have been noted by the House Select Committee on China as well as the Department of War.” Back in 2021, Unitree joined Boston Dynamics, Agility, ANYbotics and others in signing a pledge to not weaponize its autonomous machines. The company insists that its robots, including its new $650,000 rideable Mecha, are for civilian use only.

A Letter to Our Community: The Road Ahead for Robotics To our Community and Partners, As we step into 2026, our mission at Axis is clearer than ever: Constructing the definitive End-to-End Scaling Layer for Robotics. Our goal is to accelerate the transfer of diverse human intelligence into Robotics General Intelligence (RGI). By owning the critical path of intelligence creation, we are turning the physical limitations of robotics into a scalable, software-driven future. Here is our strategic outlook and roadmap for the year ahead. The Core Thesis: Simulation is the Only Way Out The path to RGI is currently blocked by Data Scarcity, Generalization Fragility, and Hardware Fragmentation. At Axis, we believe Simulation is the only way out. Our Simulation Data Platform and Data Augmentation Engine transform raw data into "Synthetic Gold". Backed by academic milestones like Roboverse, Skill Blending, and GraspVLA, we have proven that pure simulation can achieve the generalization required for the real world. We don’t just collect data; we architect it. The Engine: Why Crypto? We believe RGI should come from all, not a few. Crypto is not just a feature; it is the primitive that powers our entire ecosystem flywheel: - Incentive Mechanism: Democratizing contribution and rewarding the trainers and developers. - Assetization: Turning proprietary data and refined models into liquid, ownable assets. - Verifiable Workflow: We are opening the "Black Box" of AI. By bringing total transparency to the Task Generation → Data Collection → Model Training pipeline, we ensure every byte of intelligence is verifiable, traceable, and secure. 2026 Strategic Deliverables This year, we are committed to delivering three foundational pillars: - The World's Largest Training Dataset for Robots: A robot training set—diverse, high-quality interaction data at an unprecedented scale. - A Robotics Foundation Model: A universal robotic brain trained on our pure simulation and synthetic data, capable of robust cross-embodiment transfer and open-world adaptability. - Evolvable Robot Hardware: Robots deployed with Axis models that autonomously evolve through continuous interaction, turning every deployment into a self-improving node within our RGI network. The Ultimate Vision We are building more than models; we are architecting the Distributed Machine Economy. A future where every dataset, model, and robotic embodiment is a verifiable asset in a global, autonomous network. Thank you for building the future of intelligence with us✌️📷

At Humanoids Summit Seoul 2026, ROBOTIS CEO Byoung-soo Kim shared the company’s vision for an open-source humanoid platform. ⠀ He described a future where humanoids evolve into platforms - much like smartphones - supporting a wide range of applications, services, and new possibilities. ⠀ To make that future possible, ROBOTIS believes both hardware and software need to be more open and accessible, lowering the barriers to humanoid development and real-world deployment. ⠀ ROBOTIS is building this ecosystem around AI Sapiens, working with university students through the OH! GYM! project and collaborating with global partners such as NVIDIA to connect simulation, AI training, and real-world deployment. ⠀ Our goal is simple: Make humanoid development more accessible and bring robots closer to real-world applications. ⠀ Stay tuned as ROBOTIS continues to build the open ecosystem for the next generation of humanoids. 🚀 ⠀ #ROBOTIS #NVIDIA #HumanoidsSummit #AISapiens #Humanoid #Robot #PhysicalAI #Robotics #OpenSource

Had an amazing time at the Stanford Robotics Center Launch event this Saturday! The Packard building’s underground floor has been transformed into a bright new robotics lab, complete with a mocap room, specialized spaces for domestic, field, and surgical robots, and even an aquarium in progress for the Ocean One bot! Check out the videos below—there’s one of me operating a Da Vinci surgical robot 🤖 Robotics truly embodies interdisciplinary collaboration, pulling together expertise from electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, materials science, HCI, and design. It’s the kind of field where no single department could drive research forward alone. This new center is an incredible resource to unite researchers, and I have to admit, I’m a bit envious of the PhD students who get to work in such an inspiring environment! Look forward to more great research work from Stanford!

What does a real humanoid robotics dataset actually look like? Humanoid robots are expensive and complex, which makes their data unusually difficult to collect - and difficult for most people to get hands-on experience with. We previously shared a post on conversion code for the new Human in the Wild dataset by BitRobot 🦾, Hugging Face, and Unitree. Now we’re publishing the full HIW-500 data converted to RRD, so you can explore that data directly with Rerun. Watch the robot move. Inspect cameras and robot states together. Zoom in on a moment and query episodes through Rerun catalog! If you’re curious about a real-world humanoid dataset, HIW-500 is now a lot easier to explore. We share the conversion code along with our previous abc-130k dataset conversion example.

This is Algeria right now! Don't tune out, Algeria. Not now. These fires are catastrophic and apocalyptic scenes. Our world is on fire, we have to deal with this new normal, to stop it, and we have to learn to cope I’m praying for the people in Algeria affected by the wildfires

If people are going to come here, they have to integrate with us - not the reverse. Britain is a Christian country, and we should not be afraid to stand up for our way of life.

Qualia has been selected for the Google DeepMind Robotics Program. We train embodied models that put a robot on a real manual task and make it work, on the floor, not in a demo. Foundation models and reasoning are where robotics is heading, and doing that work alongside DeepMind, who are pushing this frontier, is exactly where we want to be. If you are a company looking to see how a new generation of robots can help your manual tasks, contact us at hello@qualiastudios.dev More soon

The Sabotaging Practice of Over Supply and Sameness in the NFT Space. The current zeitgeist of the NFT space is that the same artists are doing the same kind of work five times a year, with project after project leaving a trail of disappointment and discontent among collectors and all of us watching in disbelief as huge resources are extracted from the space over work that feels like it could be left as an "artist study." I understand that you can do what you want with your money as collectors, but we are killing the whole space with this incestuous practice. No artist is that prolific to be able to do 5 collections of 100+ pieces each every year and actually deliver innovation and some kind of creative evolution. Of course, they can pretend play that the work has something new, but there is no precedent nor proof that that has ever happened in the speed that it happens in the NFT space. Again, people are free to through away their resources on whatever they want but with this way of doing things, we more and more are going to start seeing the consequences. Oh! There are consequences? Yes. Maybe unintended, but there are. Let's see. Let's start with the loss of belief in the NFT space as somewhere where emerging artists can come and find support for their experiments. Why even bother to bring experiments, innovation, and new ways to think of art on the blockchain if the same people have all the collectors hypnotized with their magical flutes? Why even try to come to a space where taking risks and challenging the status quo (the mission of art!!!) is overlooked? This makes the NFT space a social club and not a space for art. I guess it is fine, but IMO it is a recipe for disaster. New collectors stay away because the art will slowly but surely become stale and un-challenging. Why even bother to come and see what is happening here if you can't, as a collector, see new weird and up-and-coming artists? The amount of noise emitted by the same artists doing the same art over and over, drowns out any new voices. Again. A recipe for disaster. The NFT space is becoming a space of disappointment and doubt. We think that collections going to zero one after the other, over and over, is not damaging? I feel we are kidding ourselves. Disappointment piles up, and again, the people who will hurt are the emerging artists, the new blood, the ones who are willing to risk the most and, in return, put fire in this cold space of sameness. I love this space—don't get me wrong—it has changed my life, and I believe it has a ton of potential, but things need to change for it to become a beacon of light in art. But we need to support new voices. We need to support new ideas. The challenge is huge. I hope to contribute all I can to this change. I hope more and more see how exciting it is to go out and try to discover what else is out there and move this space forward. But again, I understand the leaps of faith needed, but if there is a space that is based on that, it's the NFT space...so there is hope. We will see. 📺by Boldtron
