A skill is still learned. "Buh muh programming skills." No. You entered a prompt. No real skills were gained. But sure, leave it to the machines. Get fat and lazy whilst claiming to be "right-wing."

thats a full on goy comment , OBVIOUSLY there is a skill gap in AI creation , that is why there is SLOP and there is stuff you can not even tell anymore, it is just pure cope at this point

"hurr durr, my prompts are skill!" No. "You must be Jewish because you believe people should work!" No. I'm a Christian. You don't work, you don't eat. Then again, what does a whore know of morality?

@BananaJuju_ Imagine hiding on a sock to act tough

@BananaJuju_ Sock would imply this isn't my main.

the reason ai is bad is because of the data that is used to generate images and videos from is stolen because all of the ai companies never got consent to use peoples artwork for training. and i get that real artists copy, the reality is that while they “copy” they are actually making it, or in most cases, making their own rendition of the source. some do hyper realism or a stylized approach. and im speaking as someone whom worked with generative ai for jobs and know how the prompting process works very intimately. its never precise, and you have to end up getting a human artist, videographer, editor, photographer, etc anyway because of: - the low quality of the output - the inaccuracies regardless of prompts in addition to that, the ai usage makes your content look cheap, lazy, and as if you dont care about actually making content.

"are actually making it, or in most cases, making their own rendition of the source" AI does that too, there is not a line you can point to and say I originally drew that. So what is the difference in me taking a picture of you and making a different picture out of your style or AI doing it

the question is raised. did you decide every detail in a generated image? because we both know using generated images is just rolling dice and settling for a close aproximation, never getting it precisely how we wanted it. ive worked with gen ai for a good 4-5 years for my jobs, both small and large scale. youre never going to be the one making anything through it. its because you dont choose every detail the way you want it. with an actual artist you can, and they also understand inferences better than an ai that is going to continue to roll the dice. i traded some work for my gecko vtuber stuff. and the artist was able to understand my vision perfectly and understood what i said by a jalepeno popper leopard gecko in a cartoonish artstyle ontop of a yellow jalepeno plush pillow holding a controller outward, the feet are white to represent the sour cream. and the gecko looks as dumb as rocks but below are two versions of this with the same prompt i gave the actual artist using grok and gemini (which i use for my job due to requirements) vs the third gif and fourth gif which is the actual art i received which i wanted on the first try however. an actual artist can understand the requests. the ai will never get it right. and you can make the argument that real artists will copy someone elses art style but the copying is being done by humans, theres a reason why the united states does not have copyright protections for ai generated imagery or video. and the case cited is because of a monkey named naruto. its because the outputs are not made by humans. like i get youre wanting to be a vtuber, or claim to want to be one. i personally dont care, but pretending that ai generated output is the same as actual artwork or real content is just inaccurate mainly because a human never made it. its the same thing as me 3d printing a toy and saying I made it. I didnt make it, I downloaded a 3d model made by someone else and a program translated it into gcode and my ender 3 pro printed it layer by layer. I did nothing more than download and press print. aside from all of that, if you want your content to look good and actually have soul in it, just try making your own things, even if its shitty, its better than nothing. i started out using fugitech and a picture of a leopard gecko from google before getting my artwork and then teaching myself how to turn the artwork i got into a live2d model for free. the reality of content creation is if you dont want to put in the effort and take shortcuts, is that youre going to get lower quality results and more backlash or just never grow.

I am sorry, but if you are not able to get the output you want from a model, then you are just shit at prompting

its an example, but i appreciate you confirming that youre cherry picking what i said and strawmanning my argument. i prefer to keep things human made and clanker free. either way. i had my fun, hope you have yours with your..."art"

To be fair, I believe what she is saying is that if you are skilled at prompting, then the prompt would be detailed enough that you would end up generating the exact image you’re looking for down to the smallest detail. Of course you’re always gonna have small hallucinations and then you can either fix those in Photoshop or you can regenerate. But this is why some prompts are well over 3000 words. The more detailed the prompt the more accurate the output.

@BananaJuju_ what im explaining is that a human artist was able to take a few images and a basic description, and get it done right the first time. and in a higher quality

Copying and competing. Instead of looking at something badass and trying to find ways to disqualify it; identify what you like, how YOU can do it, and how you can do it BETTER. A bunch of the best artists were powered by 'nah, I'd win' energy. Certainly not pathetic whining.

You are ordering a pizza and then trying to claim you made the pizza.

Deliciouse 😋

True of course, but as always they make up fake arguments that don't make sense. They are jelly at AI because it is a better artist than them and also because they are afraid of climate change or something like that

there's always something with these guys

Artists have copied others through the centuries. its nothing new.

Remember, a real "artist" created this...

Referencing and copying are different ma’am. Thats why tracing and then claiming it as your own is seen as stealing. Yes this tool may be useful for smaller vtubers; and honestly would be the first time i would take gen ai as a tool and not some slop.

the whole point of AI is referencing by input , show me a single image generated where you can point out " I drew that line originally"

Human artists study references and then transform them through skill, style, and personal labor. AI models statistically reproduce patterns from mass datasets (often without consent) to generate new output. Yes, you are wrong, and that's okay. Stop trying to draw a false equivalence, because you aren't making a real point at all.

Thanks for demoing the tech because now I know it's not ready yet. The voice to lip sync is REALLY bad

It is a png so there is no lip sync in the first place like with all pngs. When you lak about the delay, this is a problem on my end atm

I've been saying that! Art has always been copying what came before to improve and find your own niche. Shitty artists and scammers are just mad that they'll be out of a job soon xD

Artist out here trying to out boomer every older generation. Could you imagine not developing cnc machining because you want to protect the blacksmith industry? Bunch of nonadaptable sixty sevens. I'm in my 4th career change lol.

Pretty much but I would just say we are averaging together all the art that we run across in our minds much like AI averages art via ML and other models

Your model looks awesome Juju. "Real" artists be like:

one problem being is that we're lacking ACTUAL professional behavior within the vtubing scene, like yeah obviously sex sells but as the saying goes "good artists copy, great artists steal" which seems to be missing a core aspect within online artists now adays

I stopped caring about AI art the moment I saw the capabilities of photoshop "brushes".

Does life imitate art, or does art imitate life?

Artists do copy from other artists. My style is a mix of my art sensei Feretta, Jay Naylor, some Yawg and Kadath too. My style developed into what it is today from the stuff I learned from all of them. Sure I use AI as my reference now for poses as it generates them quickly, but ultimately I have my own style. Is it the best? No but it is my style. Most VTuber models have that Anime art style. The basic anime style. Not its own style technically. Each anime artist, manga artist actually have a different style but most people can’t or won’t see it. The Vtubers are all the generic basic art style which is what AI copies and learns from.

Theres a difference between copying by doing something by hand and typing an input into a prompt generator and claiming the picture to be created by you. Would you call yourself a mathematician for using a calculator to solve math problems? No you wouldnt.

Another issue that everyone has seen, "The x artist ghosted me" posts. It's not that people want free shit, it's the lack of people providing good service to those that want it. Emulation and piracy of games and anime is a similar topic.

Art is built upon imitation and repetition. It's also built upon pretentiousness and a false sense of identity. The later part is why AI is bad to these people because it's exposing how stagnant and uncreative a large majority of Artist truly are.

Those who have boring, ordinary lives copy off of those who've had exciting lives. Those who've had exciting and unique lives copy off their own memories.

That's actually one of the biggest reasons I found abstract art so endearing. All the other styles just taught you techniques on how to copy other people's work or translate subjects from reality onto the page.

the amount of same jugs we see on tubers, same hair styles same facial design its like their the same person sold differently XD its kinda crazy but yeah art is about slightly modifying something already beautiful to sell it as your own spin up

It's because they see a Avatar/child or whatever it's called (I'll just use AVATAR). of a SUCCESSFUL Vtuber and think "I can make Billion's, NO, TRILLIONS ! Using something similar looking ! ". Too many "artists " do that shite too, they "Borrow" from popular contemporary artists, past famous artists and clone or just outright COPY/STEAL something just for the $$ and praise.

Questions for the dumb: -Do artists pay all the artists that drew the art they "learned" to draw from? -Do they always get permission to "learn" from said artworks? -Do you think AI looks at an image using eyes like a human does and pieces parts them together like a collage?

@The_Bloooop What’s the phrase again? “Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief?”

“Good artists barrow, great artists steal.”

I think art is just improving on other artist’s techniques over time and always has been, and I think AI is just a tool that goes alongside that, like vtubing couldn’t exist without AI for example, and I think we’ll never replace human art, humans will always be commissioned and with that being said I think a-lot of artists’ damage themselves with their attitudes and by letting their politics cloud their view. Honestly even AI only improves upon itself, we see that all the time with new models releasing, so technically in a way that’s just another form of art improving upon art lol 🤗

No matter how good AI gets it lacks the divine spark. Thus it cannot make art.

I'd take the argument seriously if it wasn't so emotive.

- It is in fact how we learned to draw (I'm a legacy artist) - The entire anime-style is super derivative and even people who are exceptionally talented anime-style artists who create their own identifiable sub-styles are still based on a foundation of derivative work - Even the primal artists painting stick figure animals on cave walls were derivative of nature [Img] When I first started engaging with this debate I took a few pictures of pencil drawings I did as a kid, while I was still learning. Even though I was trying to be original people still used to notice/compare what I was making to work by other artists. 🤷🏻♂️🤣 In conclusion, you are correct, all art is derivative, they are just mad that AI learns faster, + its better & cheaper than <most> of them, they can bitch and moan about AI training scraping their work to learn, but even if their crayon drawings did get scraped almost no one is going to intentionally Gen that cringe-ass shit. And its a moot point since they trained on every peice of art they encountered too, they just didnt learn as fast🤷🏻♂️... The truly talented legacy artists wont lose any work, but the dregs are going to have a rough go of it🤷🏻♂️

The Luddites of our era trying to stop a new form of Industrial Revolution, but this time in the artistic field. AI is a tool, but they vilify it, as the Luddites vilified mechanization.

Exactly. Real artists have copied, studied, and been heavily influenced by each other’s styles and techniques forever. Anime being influenced by old Disney is a prime example. That’s literally how art evolves. The ‘stolen art’ crowd almost always just means style — and art styles aren’t copyrightable. Copyright protects specific original expressions, not ‘the anime style’ or whatever aesthetic someone popularized. Most decent AI tools also have safeguards to avoid spitting out near-identical copies of individual training images. But even without that, this is still just a tool. Like any tool, good results require skill and intent from the person using it.

I think that my oc designs are a little unique, compared to all the vtuber models that look the same, why i am intrested into turning one of them into a vtuber model, without the need to sell one of my organs for paying a 3d artist
