I raised serious concerns over the mismanagement of public funds, echoing the recent remarks of Alhaji Aliko Dangote and former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who questioned the viability of these refineries and described the repeated turnaround maintenance efforts as wasteful. With the Dangote Refinery now operational, it has become even more critical to question why public refineries remained dormant despite decades of funding and promises of revival.
