Terminator 2 took everything great about the first film and made it bigger without losing the tension. The T-1000 alone remains one of the greatest action villains ever created.

A shapeshifting robot driving a semi. I wonder if this was the inspiration for Bay's version of Galvatron?

Robert Patrick’s T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) still stands as one of sci-fi’s defining performances, the way he moves and matches the effects so perfectly it turns him into one of the scariest villains ever put on screen.

This is, unironically, one of the greatest songs ever made and quite possibly the greatest pop rock ballad ever created.

Die Hard (1988) took the basic premise from its source novel, then rewrote almost everything that mattered. Swapping bleak cynicism for wit, charm, and John McClane turned it into one of the greatest action films ever made.

One of Hollywood’s worst habits is taking an action film with something to say and reducing it to spectacle. FIRST BLOOD (1982) is about the treatment of veterans after war. The sequels shifted the focus toward ever-bigger body counts.

Aliens (1986) pulled off one of the greatest tonal shifts ever. James Cameron took Ridley Scott’s quiet horror masterpiece and turned it into a pulse-pounding sci-fi action film while amplifying every element that made the original iconic.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s T-800 is iconic, but Robert Patrick’s T-1000 in TERMINATOR 2 (1991) might be the franchise’s greatest villain.
