That's not even what he said.

👆🏻 Smartest podcaster trying to understand the simplest phrase by Terence Tao

Absolutely not what he said

Tao is notably off center here.

Not what he said. Either you have really poor understanding skills or this is rage bait.

Not what he says and what he says is now very outdated..

It almost looks like the quasi-empiricism of the 1970s

Bro, he said “WE, can only make empirical experiments.” (To figure out what it’s good and bad at) Keep this in mind before you start drooling over ai. We got 5 trillion dollars in cumulative annual losses from ai Dr. and it increased by 57% in one year. Ai is not stopping hacking and cybercrime. It’s exploding, and it’s worse than it’s ever been.

100% agree. Math is a priori intuition, like human spatial intuition (e.g. pouring coffee). AI lacks both. Better let it run experiments, like what I’m doing now with octonions. @Logan0x05

Misleading. Trillion prompts against a formal oracle still theoretically count as "empirical experiments" (barely). The result is a formally verified theorem. So practically they can produce formally verified theorems.

He went retard then! Empirical Measures matter enormously

Empirical experiments are one mode. If a system exposes its transition rules, you can analyze structure directly — not just outcomes.

I see the anger now.

Empirical experiments are the best kind.
