Tesla FSD had nowhere to go!

Still room for improvement for FSD on this one. An attentive driver would have noticed the other car not slowing down and at least changed lanes or slowed down with the anticipation of this happening. FSD didn't notice anything wrong until it had to insta-react at the last second.

If a video does not have FSD engaged icons, then I will not, and choose not to believe that FSD was engaged.

Lots of room for improvement with FSD predictive capability. The impending accident was clearly unfolding well before it tried moving out of the way.

When changing lanes, the turn signal wasn't on, which is why I'm saying that FSD wasn't activated! Prove me wrong.

I would have done a better job of avoiding that crash than FSD did. When you see a mess of a road like that, you want to slow down and create space. When FSD goes through an area like that and it doesn’t slow down, warning bells go off in my head to take over.

This is not FSD. I face this scenario regularly at day and night and tesla clears it perfectly. This looks like plain cruise control.

Most humans would NOT have hit that car.

FSD doesn’t flash the high beams like that, the driver did. Why are the FSD engagement icons cropped out? No turn signal on the lane change? This is not FSD. Just another stupid driver blaming FSD when they fuck up.

A human would've braked 3 seconds earlier. Sometimes paranoia beats compute.

This was predictable

Videoes with no FSD shown have zero legitimacy.
FSD has overlays.

Here come the 'FSD should be trained to predict things'. Sure, put infinite scenarios into a LLM in a car..impossible. And FSD already does some unexplained things. Imagine it with even some 'prediction' capability.

I disagree. This should have been expected 5 seconds prior to impact.

I strongly believe FSD will enter the era of predicting these collisions and take corrective actions to reduce/eliminate impact. @aelluswamy

So it looks like FSD might have been engaged until the Tesla starts veering to the left, which is probably driver input. I assume the driver didn’t realize the car would end up in his lane. FSD doesn’t have predictive intelligence for other vehicles that are about to crash into another object completely independent from the actual Tesla at hand. That’s an extremely high bar to cross, and one that won’t be available for a long time (if ever). Another reason why FSD is not better than human input in specific driving scenarios. Unfortunately there will always be potentially fatal edge cases like this, and anyone who trusts their life to FSD should be well aware of the limitations and dangers.

Fsd in the other car would have saved them

A gas car driver would have avoided the collision due to fast acting human instincts.

This is an edge case where predictive analysis is needed. Knowing the next lane was ending/blocked and detecting a car there, FSD should have backed off to give space to either a last second maneuver by that car, or the crash that did occurr.

Fair, it reacted late on this one. Tesla's new safety report still has FSD at 6M miles per major collision, the US average is 660k.

But realistically, it shouldn’t have continued like that assuming that the other car would’ve moved over FSD should’ve slowed down a little bit defensive driving 101

we should permanently take the licenses of everyone who agrees that "FSD had nowhere to go"

How did you not see that coming a mile away?

SI (super intelligence)---what about the brakes ?

Lo bueno de esto, es que todos los demás aprenderán de este accidente

😂

Fsd wasn’t engaged

FSD noticed too late that their lane was blocked.

The dumbest fking drivers are always in a Tesla. Zero situational awareness at all. There are no skills required when obtaining a drivers license in the states.

FSD is gonna stay supervised forever.

Ce mec devait être sur son téléphone.

Need the overlay to see how fast the vehicle was going and stopping. These videos from the tesla dashcam make the car appear like they're driving so slow when they're really going 75mph

Lets take a second to address the driver that hit the flashing vehicle at full speed. What kind of stupid is that. That driver is probably one of those that said they dont need fsd. They enjoy driving.

How is this allowed on the road?
