I've never understood why anyone drives on the beach ever with the very real possibility of getting stuck or worse. I understand mudding and racing but here what is even the appeal?

When the driver of the Tesla presses the accelerator to hard it will spin the wheels and dig in. However when he releases the accelerator it will do regenerative breaking and block the wheels and also dig in. Better to tow a Tesla in Neutral or in Tow-mode.

Unless you’re familiar with the car, It’s difficult to feather the gas pedal in an EV. As soon as you let go the gas pedal, the regen brake kicks in even if you don’t step on the brake pedal. Putting it in neutral would have been easier after the initial pull.

Dude… For future reference, maybe invest in an actual two-way radio and give the driver one? Or, you know, just put your phones on speaker like a normal human. Instead of blasting through that stupid PA system like you’re the king of the beach announcing royal decrees. Guess the dude really loves hearing his own voice — nothing screams ‘big boy’ quite like playing tow-truck DJ for the whole shoreline. 🤣

What kind of idiot drives any car that is obviously not made to drive in sand into the sand like that? Their license should just be revoked at that point.

Even when speaking English most people don’t have enough understanding of how to control the stuck vehicle backwards in a tow situation, this had to be incredibly frustrating lol

I’ve helped others sitting inside on their cell phones. I’m thinking really? Please get out and help push your car out of the sand or dig. I just happen to be walking by to help. I really don’t have to be helping, but I am, lol! I’ve gotten stuck in the sand. People are amazing down here in Daytona Beach. I’ve learned new tricks to get out of the sand through the years. It’s from living in the snow up north. Thank God for locals! ❤️🙏🏻🇺🇸🌴🐚

This is a single motor model Y the dual motor ones are very very, very good in sand. I drive almost every day off-road with one as a geologist and I’ve never been stuck.

Even with AWD and the fat tires apparently they are no good in the sand. Wonder if snow tires would help.

$80 is crazy high. In Tx if you get stuck wait 5mins and 20 strangers will offer to get you out for free
