Tesla Self-Driving avoids massive pothole

It's nice that it avoids the big ones. Now it just needs to avoid all the little potholes too.

I hope they avoid them, or atleast, don't aim for them in future releases.

It was just luck because of no lines painted in the middle of the road. Mine hits potholes and dead animals all the time. They haven't taught it the concept of straddling.

I haven’t experienced it going around one yet but hopefully soon.

A massive pothole like that would be easier for FSD to detect than just a big one(8" wide or less). FSD ran over one the other day and I thought I might have broken a rim. I have the latest FSD.

Bring that test to Newark NJ.... We'll see how well it works

I call BS on this. My FSD would have plowed into the pothole and bust my wheel for certain.

Manholes and storm drains are geometrically symmetrical objects which should easily be distinguished from shadows and road repairs, yet FSD hits them every time. Until they can avoid the easy ones-there is no hope for pot-holes.

Funny, usually mine runs directly into them.

Normally I do not care one bit about pot holes, but that sucker might be one worthy of breaking the streak over.

Good thing!! Looks like a black hole. You might’ve entered another dimension had FSD hit it. Would be cool if you could flag it and report it to be fixed.

India says hold my beer. Thats not really a massive pothole in comparison to some I’ve seen in Pune and Bangalore. But good nonetheless. India is FSD final boss IMHO.

Just lucky, my Cybertruck on FSD ran over a great big hunk of 18 wheeler tire tread and lost a rear wheel fairing because of it.

It needs better awareness of where its wheel tracks are. There's a metal plate on a road near my house and it only needs to deviate about an inch to avoid it, but instead it swings well out into the other lane, like a foot or so, and it's an unnecessarily jarring maneuver.

what's impressive isn't the tech, it's that tesla is still testing on public roads after all these years
