Optimus is going to be one of the biggest equalizers humanity has ever seen. Bc when every family can access a robot that delivers world class medical care, it means the quality of your health no longer depends on your income, your zip code, or your background. I get it now.

@Teslaconomics Literally yes. You massively underestimate what’s going to happen. You’re tweeting this from a computer you keep in your pocket. 200 years ago people would have said what’s a computer? What’s a phone? What’s the internet? You’re being insanely short sighted. It will happen.

@Teslaconomics Considering what Neuralink has already successfully accomplished, yes, Optimus will 100% be capable of precision surgery in years ahead.

@Teslaconomics A robot can do better. Your hand shakes, but his doesn't. You can already see the shaking.

@Teslaconomics Robotics have been used for decades with better patient outcomes, plus shorter & faster recoveries. Just becuase the robot now looks more human like doesnt mean it wont be better. Im sure surgeons everywhere are scared and nervous about their job futures but this is the future.

@Teslaconomics I'll be honest. I doubt 99.9% of humans can do that.

@Teslaconomics Doctors are not why Healthcare is expensive in America. They are the scapegoat however, as they are first point of contact and blame

@Teslaconomics Not right now, but eventually, yes, of course. And more precisely, without breaks, with less mistakes. This is inevitable.

@Teslaconomics Most people fail to realize that the hard part about surgery isn't keeping your hands steady- it's the nonstop decision making required. The surgical field is ever evolving, and every move demands judgement: where to dissect, what to preserve, what to ligate, when to be push, etc

@Teslaconomics "Impressive work! But let's be honest, the eventual robot standard won't just be 'maximal performance.' It will be that performance every single time, with zero bad days, no arguments with the spouse, and most importantly... no need to brag about it on X. 😉

The day a machine can pull off an anastomosis like this would be a good day for humanity. I’m not sure if it’s possible, as it’s all in the innumerable judgement calls he makes at every micro step, mostly based on surgeon intuition. They should call it the Lawton threshold. If it can run a 10-0 suture line in such a deep corridor like this, it passes. Of course, assuming improved graft patency rates and speed.

@Teslaconomics Better use would be OR room turnover, and transport

@Teslaconomics It will be able to, with a subscription service 🤣

@Teslaconomics I’ve had quite a few CABG patients over the years, whose grafts were leaking after they got back into ICU. They had to go back to surgery.

@Teslaconomics Eventually robots will be good enough to perform brain surgery. Until then there are skilled surgeons like you and Dr. Spetzler! I've had 6 brain surgeries with Dr. Spetzler.

@Teslaconomics Performing surgery of such magnitude is not only about this doctor and nurses in that small space performing the procedure. Considering the need for a sterilized oxygen room, sterilized operation equipment, and monitoring equipment to medication during and after the procedure is

Yes we MUST believe in humanity. I have great appreciation for the da Vinci surgical system, but they also have their limitations. A lot of people misunderstand what “robotic surgery” actually means. It isn’t autonomous, and it’s nowhere near replacing surgeons. We will continue to see the advantages of robotic assisted surgeries, but not a robot that will fully replace our surgeons.

@Teslaconomics Bruh, a robot installs Neuralink into your brain. Is it really that much of a stretch for you to see where this is heading?

@Teslaconomics Most definitely within time. At least the greed, corruption and mismanagement of this failing health care system will be solved. I am so sick of the health care system. Some doctors are great and became doctors because it was in their blood and truly want to help people = 1-3%.

@Teslaconomics FSD show AI can be 10x more safe than normal human drivers. No driver can have >100 years of experience driving. FSD can. Neuralink has a robo-surgeon because the procedure is impossible with human hands now and will become even more complex as the number of probes increase.

Paul Rusan's profile picture
Paul Rusan10 months ago

@Teslaconomics The robots will start with simple surgeries and train for the complex ones. At one point they will get enough experience to do the complex themselves. And it is very easy to copy paste the code from a robot to another. Much easier than training humans.

@Teslaconomics I'd like to think robots are introduced to participate in partnership with health pros in promoting health & safety...utilising the principles of triple p in healthcare Impossible to takeover cos they lack the common sense & the basic human touch

Alfonso Vicini's profile picture

@Teslaconomics There's a long way to go, certainly, and in short terms the bold proposed robotic surgeon will not happen, but a remotely human-guided robot will be an advantage, since an able surgeon will not be available on site often, but one guiding the robot from away, that's possible
