Elon Musk has repeatedly highlighted the hand (and forearm) as one of the toughest engineering challenges for Tesla’s Optimus Robot. A new Patent (for presumably Optimus 3) shows Tesla is using human anatomy to recreate a tendon-driven robotic hand and forearm assembly that closely mimics a human system. Basically, Tesla is replacing human muscles with actuators and tendons with cables to replicate human dexterity. The Tesla Engineering team is on another level. Optimus Gen 3 reveal is going to be incredible.

Wait till Tesla drops Optimus, a humanoid robot built for real work, not sci-fi. It is designed to handle tasks like lifting, carrying, factory labor, and even helping you with everyday chores, with human level mobility. Tesla has targeted pricing around $20,000 to $30,000 once it reaches mass production scale. This is not a toy, it is labor turning into software.

OPTIMUS V3 UNVEILING Q1 2026 - "WON'T EVEN SEEM LIKE A ROBOT" Elon: "Optimus V3 is something special. It won't even seem like a robot. It'll seem like a person in a robot suit." Tesla's targeting early 2026 for the reveal - probably Q1. Production line with 1M unit annual capacity starts construction end of 2025. Actual production ramp will take time because there's no humanoid robot supply chain. 10,000 unique components. Vertically integrated production - Tesla will make most parts themselves. First batch: 5,000-12,000 units in 2025 (target is 10K, success is 5K). Next year: 50,000 units. Elon calls it "the biggest product of all time by far." The robot can fold laundry, wipe tables, shake hands. Tactile hands with human-like dexterity. Already walking around Palo Alto offices 24/7. If he's right, Optimus will be worth more than Tesla's entire vehicle business. Source: Tesla Oracle, Motley Fool, XRoboHub on YT

TESLA HALTED MODEL S AND MODEL X PRODUCTION TO BUILD AN ARMY OF OPTIMUS ROBOTS The Fremont assembly line was torn down in 46 days. In its place, Tesla is building a line for humanoid production, aiming for a million units a year A humanoid robot is a body shaped like a human. Physical AI is the intelligence that controls that body Walking and making coffee is often just imitation learning from a scripted routine. But once the environment shifts, the learned trick stops working Language models had the entire internet to train on. Robotics has nothing close to that scale of data, which is why one giant brain hasn't worked for anyone yet The industry is moving toward modularity instead - separate models for vision, movement, and planning, each improved on its own The real question is no longer whether a robot can move impressively. It's whether it can pull its sensors into one picture of the world and adapt to whatever wasn't scripted for it

🤯 This is what humanoid robots may look like in the very near future. A human face. An exposed mechanical body. And AI controlling the machine. Android X looks less like a robot… and more like the first generation of something entirely new. 🤖 The uncanny valley is getting real.

TESLA’S HUMAN TOUCH IN ROBOT FORM The hand of the future! The Optimus hand flexes a 22-joint hand built like ours, complete with steel tendons and fingertip sensors. It can lift a battery, fold laundry, or cradle an egg without cracking it. The new silicone-skinned fingers react in real time, blending muscle power with neural precision. If you watch the latest Optimus dancing video in slow motion, you’ll notice that it’s not just dancing, but it’s hopping and balancing on one foot. Also, the string in the back isn’t even holding Tesla Bot up! This level of dynamic balance and control is EXTREMELY difficult to achieve for a humanoid robot. What Tesla is doing right now with Optimus is years ahead of what people realize.

A sleek humanoid robot sprints effortlessly through traffic, executing flawless maneuvers while leaving a police cruiser trailing in its wake. It is a thrilling display of peak robotic athleticism, but Tesla Optimus will never run from the law. As the absolute pinnacle of intelligence and engineering, Optimus is designed for perfect harmony with human society, ensuring its superior, unmatched capabilities are always used to protect, serve, and excel. ( Haters will say it's AI 🤓 )

This also shows up in the representations learned by the model. We plot the model’s representations of human and robot images. As pre-training is scaled up, the representation of humans and robots become more aligned: to a scaled-up model, human videos "look" like robot demos.

The T800 is the best humanoid robot ever created. Its power balance and movement put it ahead of Tesla Optimus Atlas Figure 03 and Unitree H1. Think I’m wrong? Name one robot that beats it and tell me exactly what it does better.

TESLA’S OPTIMUS BOT: COOKS, CLEANS, AND WILL CHANGE THE FUTURE FOR THE BETTER Tesla’s humanoid robot, Optimus, isn’t just walking—it’s working. Designed to handle chores like cooking, vacuuming, and folding laundry, Optimus is Tesla’s leap into domestic automation. With sensors, neural networks, and a frame built for agility, it can navigate cluttered homes and messy kitchens while improving its skills over time. More than a sci-fi showpiece, it’s being trained to adapt to household routines. Think of it as a second set of hands—unfazed by spills or socks. It’s here, and it’s learning to make dinner. Pretty human-like hand Beijing-based SynapX will unveil its tendon-driven OctoH-Hand at WRC. Human-scale in size, the hand uses a hybrid architecture combining fully tendon-driven actuation with direct-drive motors in the forearm. It integrates 28 independently controllable actuators and 23 active DoF, along with tactile sensors embedded in the palm. Interestingly…SynapX is building more than just a dexterous hand. It has also developed a World model(SYNWorld), and a data collection system(OctoSense), creating a loop from data collection to world understanding and policy generation, and finally to real-world execution and feedback. Another physical AI bridge for humanoid robots.

a different vibe. what would happen if they actually met? the prototype of Optimus V3 is set to be unveiled next year, and it might just be breathtaking.
