Tested opus 5.5 on some older work to see how it would animate a hero we designed using pure js Pretty impressive stuff given it was just a series of jpgs

Opus 5.5 works best on 'low' reasoning effort. I ran some tests as part of a project I'm working on. Opus 5.5 on 'low' reasoning vs. 'max' was at parity on task completion but 12x lower cost! Set 'low' reasoning effort by default and increase it for the hardest problems.

We wanted to build a shader that would change based on which city it was visualizing, and would react to realtime sales happening. We were really inspired by the work of @xorDev, so we reached out to collaborate. Here's some of his work I love.

I’m learning to DJ. I gave Opus 5.5 a set I loved and asked it to break it down. It made a tool to track the DJ’s hands to see which controls he was touching, then cross-checked it against the audio spectrogram to identify fx, loops, transitions. Everyone should be using AI to constantly learn new things.

I asked Opus 4.6 to 5.5 to generate a realistic 3d model of a medieval castle. It's scary how much it has improved in the past 7 months.

I built a website that plays endless lofi over pixel-art cities at night using Opus 5.5 The music isn't a playlist. A brand-new track is composed in your browser every few minutes. Put it on while you work:

we trained a fruit fly to understand emotion We created a neural network from the male drosophila connectome, then trained it on human emotions. It was shocking to see how good it was at identification (better than some humans I know)

Another minimal JS animation here! Interactive (and damn satisfying) cursor animation made with only 3kb of pure JS. Not sure how to use it yet – maybe as a base for some shader?.. Anyway, it's fun already :) Live demo & source code: Hosted on CodePen.IO

The more I think, the more I realize how crazy To Be Hero X was. Almost every episode was something special. Haolin is a rare gem of a director. I don't think we'll see an animated series as unique as TBHX for quite some time... Only the second season of it could beat it 😎

BREAKING: Anthropic just dropped Opus 4.8—and it is a MONSTER We've been testing for about a week Every 📧 and our verdict is they could've just called it Opus 5, it's that good. Here's our vibe check: - Beats GPT-5.5 on Senior Engineer bench. On our toughest benchmark Opus 4.8 scores a 63—a hair higher than GPT-5.5's score of 62, and a full 30 points higher than Opus 4.7. It tackled a ground-up rewrite of a production codebase, and actually built something that works. HOWEVER: Coding performance varied a lot at different reasoning levels. We recommend using it on xhigh for best results. - Incredibly good writer. Opus 4.8 scored a 79.6 on our writing benchmark—measuring models on real-world writing tasks we do all of the time like essay writing, promo email writing, and more. It beats GPT-5.5 by 6 points. It produces well-written prose with fewer "AI-isms". It's also very good at writing in your voice given the right context. HOWEVER: Writing performance also varied with reasoning levels. Medium reasoning had higher incidence of AI-isms—we found best results with high. - Beast at knowledge work. Opus 4.8 is very good at general knowledge work tasks like report creation, research and more. It produced the best PowerPoint one-shot we've ever seen on our deck generation benchmark. - Emotionally intelligent, willing to question the frame. I've also found it to be quite good at talking through psychological or interpersonal issues. It has a high EQ, and it's also good at not glazing and helping to expand your perspective. Its thought process feels extremely rich and dynamic. THE BAD: These days a model is only as good as its harness, and Codex is still a far superior harness to the Claude Desktop app. This has kept me using Codex + GPT-5.5 as my daily driver, but I am flipping back and forth a lot more between Codex and Claude. Anthropic is back baby! Read the rest on Every 📧:

Jaylin Williams on any surprises from this series so far: “It's what I expected. What surprised me actually is how loud their crowd was. I think it was really impressive. How the environment, their crowd was. It was a fun environment to play in.”

No AI here, just a very bold driver. Most people would be terrified to see a glowing mist like this on a dark country road, but this person just drove straight through it. It is either total fearlessness or pure adrenaline. What are we looking at here?
