Tested: the first official plug-in rendition of the Sequential Prophet-5, the 1978 legend from Dave Smith. This is just a gorgeous version by GForce; I talk to them a little about what went into it and tour what they've added:

@sequentialLLC Fine with me as long as Sequential continues to make hardware analog/hybrid synthesizers.

@sequentialLLC What do you mean official remake? this isn't from Sequencial, its from Gforce, is this better than the Arturia or the Native Instruments version?

If you talk to normies about politics, a lot of them have heard of the Military Industrial Complex (MIC), but don't actually understand what it is or who is involved. In this clip, Dave Smith buries Dinesh D'Souza for his role in the MIC.

Though originally recorded by its songwriter in '73, this 1978 cover is the version that introduced the song to a much wider audience. What do you think? Name them.

This is NY State Senator Kristen Gonzales talking about the data center moratorium at a DSA Ecosocialism event: "I wanted to talk today about a bill that we just passed...that would impose a one-year moratorium on the biggest data centers, and then also talk a little bit about from a socialist and office perspective, what I see some of the challenges being and some of the opportunities for our organization when it comes to data centers." The executive order Hochul signed today was pushed by some of the most radical left-wing groups in the country. This isn't an organic movement. (h/t Stu Smith):

What is the purpose of higher education in the age of AI? I had a very candid conversation with my students about pedagogy, universities, and what needs to change. Sharing it here to hear what others think. The link for the full talk is in the first reply.

As promised, In this very special episode of Live From the Cellar, Noam, Eli Lake and Nick Gillespie talk and argue about some music they love. This was Eli's idea to try to do a podcast version of the old Downbeat magazine blindfold test, where musicians talk about songs the editors would play for them. This is a little different, but give it a try.

It's hard to talk about the Game Boy without thinking about Super Mario Land. It was a staple of my collection from the beginning, and one I always went back to. I remembered I wanted to try the DX version for the Color by toruzz, and this seemed like the perfect time to do it.

Watching Ben Shapiro turn into an Israel-first version of a woke leftist has been hilarious. "That's what he's down to. The anti-woke, 'facts don't care about your feelings' guy is mad [Megyn Kelly] chuckled when somebody made a joke." --Dave Smith

Stephen A. Smith says Shai Gilgeous-Alexander comments of he let’s his game do the talking was a shot at Victor Wembanyama: “Yeah, you could talk talk, but I’mma let my game do the talking. Because what he’s saying is, I’m already a champion. I’m already an MVP, and I’m in line to win another one. I have what you want. So suddenly the thought of the San Antonio Spurs against the Oklahoma City Thunder becomes very appealing. This what I’m talking about. This is what we ache for. This is what we want. This is what we get from the NBA this time of year especially. It’s what you crave.” (Via Stephen A Smith)

Dave Smith (Dave Smith) and Coleman Hughes (Coleman Hughes) debate the reliability of the claim by General Wesley Clark that, in 2001, he was told the decision had been made to take out seven Middle East countries in five years. Dave: “The fact is that much of what he said came true and that's what makes it interesting.” Coleman: “Everyone else in the room does not say the decision had been made...Your only evidence is the guy who never read it...If you were a historian writing a book, you'd have to cut this out of the book.”
