Elephants don't drink through their trunks – they drink with them. A trunk can hold up to 8 litres of water in a single draw. The elephant pulls it up, then curls the trunk to release the water into the mouth. On a hot day at Voi, that sequence repeats over and over. It takes young orphans time to master. Calves are born without full trunk coordination – in their earliest weeks, many kneel at the waterhole and drink directly with their mouth. The trunk comes later, learned by watching older members of the herd. These orphans have it well and truly mastered. Step into Voi:

This Karen would always blow her leaves onto the neighbors yard instead of blowing them into the street, so the neighbor decided to put a fence up to stop it. So the Karen blows all the leaves to the fence and makes piles, then she throws them over the fence and blows them more so they still end up all over the neighbors yard. Would you continue the pettiness by blowing the into a pile and then throwing them back into her yard or would you just be the bigger person and blow them into the street.
