This is a cool tradition. Unlike the midnight yell leaders who are mostly cringe.

When I attended minor league games in Cedar Rapids, whenever the Cedar Rapids Kernels had a runner on first, an old man seated behind the first base dugout would yell "There he goes!" as the pitcher started his move to the plate..... Induced a few wild pitches..........
