How did they suspect there were illegal aliens in that truck? How can we identify potential illegal aliens so that we can report them to ICE?

LAREDO – The Texas DPS arrested an illegal immigrant from Honduras after finding four illegal immigrants being smuggled inside a box truck during an Operation Lone Star traffic stop in Zapata Co. The driver, Joshua Alcorta-Silva of Somerset, TX, claimed to be an Uber driver but couldn’t recall where he dropped off his last passenger—raising red flags. After denying consent to search, a U.S. Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the trunk, where two illegal immigrants from Mexico were found hiding. Alcorta-Silva was arrested and charged with two counts of smuggling of persons. The two illegal immigrants were referred to Border Patrol. 1/21: A Texas DPS Trooper stopped a Ford F-150 on IH-35 in Webb County this week. During the traffic stop, the Trooper discovered that the driver, Mauro Ulises Portillo Torres, from Arlington, was smuggling five illegal immigrants from Mexico. Torres and the group of Mexican nationals were wearing construction vests, attempting to blend in with construction workers along the highway. Torres admitted he was going to be paid $2,000 to smuggle the group to San Antonio. He was arrested and charged with smuggling of persons and unlawful carry of a firearm. The five illegal immigrants were referred to Border Patrol. #OperationLoneStar

#BREAKING Texas DPS Disrupts Two Major Smuggling Attempts, Recovers 40 Illegal Immigrants in Less Than 10 Days Near Laredo LAREDO – For the second time in less than 10 days, the Texas Department of Public Safety has recovered nearly two dozen illegal immigrants being concealed inside a truck tractor during an Operation Lone Star traffic stop in Webb Co. On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, just after 4:00 p.m., a Texas DPS Trooper conducted a traffic stop on a white Peterbilt truck tractor on IH-35 near mile marker 13 outside of Laredo. A search of the truck revealed 20 illegal immigrants concealed in the truck tractor's sleeping area. The driver, Antonio Brown, 47, a resident of Nevada, was charged with smuggling of persons and booked into the Webb Co. Jail. The 20 illegal immigrants from Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala were referred to the United States Border Patrol. DPS’ Criminal Investigations Division (CID) continues to investigate the case.
